Founding Sales Development Representative - Outbound (SDR)

About Comp AI

Comp AI is reimagining compliance. We’re rebuilding a stack that has been manual for far too long, with AI agents designed to handle the busywork. We’re one of the fastest growing companies in the world, with more than 1,000 customers in less than 18 months and accelerating.

Our AI agents:

  • Draft and maintain policies based on our customers’ tech stack
  • Collect ongoing evidence across code and browser use
  • Assess risks and monitor mission critical vendors
  • Review code and changes to a company’s stack
  • Continuously monitor posture against common cyber security frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and GDPR

Compliance is the wedge. What we’re building is the whole trust layer with continuous, AI-driven code security, cloud security, device security - owned end to end instead of stitched together between vendors. Always on, and better the longer you use it. We move fast and hold a high bar. The team is small enough that each person’s work shows up directly in our product.

About the Role

We're hiring our first SDR in New York. Every plan on the GTM side is downstream of one thing: how much qualified pipeline we can build, and how fast.

You own that. You'll run outbound end to end - researching accounts, getting prospects on the phone, and turning warm and cold, skeptical security and compliance decision makers into booked meetings for our Account Executives. You're not inheriting a mature playbook. You're building it, testing it against real conversations, and throwing out what doesn't work.

We're not looking for someone learning to do this job. We're looking for someone who's already good at it and wants a bigger seat, faster growth, more financial upside, and more ownership than their current team can offer.

How We Use AI

You don't need to be an AI expert on day one, but you need the appetite to work AI-first. We'll get you fluent fast.

  • Use AI to research and prioritize accounts at scale - enrich lead lists, surface signals worth calling on, and never start a territory cold.
  • Use AI to draft first-pass sequences and call prep, then rewrite them in your own voice so every touch still remains human.
  • Use AI to compress the busywork - call notes, CRM logging, follow-up drafts - so more of your day is actual dials and conversations, not admin.

AI accelerates the prep. Your voice, your persistence, and your read on a prospect are what actually book the meeting.

What You'll Do

Build pipeline through outbound

  • Own outbound as the primary channel: identify and engage target accounts - startups, scaling companies, and enterprises that need SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or GDPR compliance (among others)  - who aren't already shopping for a solution.
  • Run a high volume of cold and warm calls daily. The phone is the primary weapon here, not a backup to email.
  • Layer in email and LinkedIn to support the calls, not replace them.

Qualify and convert

  • Qualify warm interest and outbound responses using a consistent framework (e.g., BANT) before looping in an AE.
  • Handle objections live, on the phone, without a script to rely on.
  • Coordinate and schedule qualified meetings on AEs' calendars, with clean handoff notes so they walk in prepared.

Own your numbers

  • Track your activity (dials, connects, talk time) and outcomes (meetings booked, opportunities created, pipeline created) weekly, and adjust what you're doing based on what's actually converting.
  • Keep the CRM clean - because the next person to touch that account needs to trust your notes.

Help build the machine

  • Feed what you're hearing on calls back to the team - messaging, objections, competitive intel - since you're the first line of market signal.
  • Have real input into the outbound playbook as we refine, together, what actually works in this market.

You May Be a Good Fit If You Have

  • 12+ months of B2B outbound sales experience in SaaS (BDR, SDR, or full-cycle inside sales), either currently active or ended within the last 6 months. This isn't your first outbound seat, and you have proof of strong performance.
  • A genuinely elite phone presence. High volume, unshaken by rejection, comfortable turning a cold, skeptical prospect into a booked meeting in the moment. If you'd rather hide behind email, this isn't the role.
  • Sharp objection handling and the ability to think on your feet in a live conversation.
  • Strong written communication to back up the calls with tight, personalized follow-up.
  • A genuine sense of ownership - you treat your pipeline as your problem to solve, not a task list to work through.
  • Based in the NYC area, or able to relocate before start. This is an on-site role.

Strong Candidates May Also Have

  • Prior experience at a high-growth or early-stage startup.
  • Fluency with modern sales tooling - Salesforce, Outreach, ZoomInfo, Apollo, LeadiQ, Wiza, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or AI-assisted prospecting tools like Nooks.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Big plus: experience selling into security, compliance, or GRC buyers - you already speak the language of SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or GDPR, or you've sold to CISOs, security leads, or founders navigating compliance.

How We Work

  • You think like an owner. An open territory is our problem to solve as a team, not a queue to work.
  • You move fast and close loops. AEs and prospects always know where things stand.
  • You hold the bar on quality over volume - a real conversation with the right person beats ten dials to the wrong one.

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a lead-qualification-only seat. You're sourcing, emailing, messaging, and calling, not just triaging inbound.
  • Not email-first. The phones will be a primary driver. Email and LinkedIn support it.

Why Comp AI

  • Trajectory: we're scaling the team to over 40 people this year and going head-to-head with category leaders - real pipeline you build has outsized impact on outcomes we can all see.
  • Real ownership: you're the first SDR in this market; the playbook you help build is the one the next hires inherit.
  • Fast track: strong performers can move through the Account Executive or a SDR leadership track within 8-12 months.
  • Small team, high visibility: your work shows up directly in the pipeline, not buried in a large org.
