Your role as Risk Manager

Reporting to the Director of Risk and Compliance, this is a senior individual contributor role where you will help shape Dialogue’s risk posture. You will need to understand the strategy, day-to-day operations, key decisions and challenges to design right-sized risk frameworks, policies and tools to support better decision making. You will not simply apply frameworks, your goal is to enable the business to move faster and smarter, ensuring risk management is a driver of success rather than a hurdle to innovation. The risk & compliance team is not here to police the business, but we are at its service, we are quick thinkers, we’re flexible and offer pragmatic advice to support better decision-making.

Dialogue was acquired by Sun Life in 2023. Although it still operates independently, you’ll need to have (or build) a general understanding of the financial services risk & compliance landscape and culture.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leveraging data and understanding of the business to provide risk & compliance related advice to the business for key decisions : Vendor selection, key projects, changes to operations, new products, incidents, etc.
  • Establish, own and maintain risk management frameworks that are right sized for Dialogue’s business and objectives, while aligning with Sunlife’s frameworks and underlying regulatory requirements
  • Work across various risk & compliance topics : Third party risk management, Business continuity, data governance, model/AI risk, technology risk, etc.
  • Support incident management and coordination
  • Build automated risk monitoring capabilities
  • Manage evolution of Dialogue’s GRC tool (vision, roadmap and execution)
  • Respond to RFPs and Client Due Diligence questionnaires

We'd love to hear from you if you have

  • Hard requirements : relevant bachelor/master’s degree, 5+ years of relevant experience, worked in heavily regulated industry, familiarity with technology, and fluent in french.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to leverage knowledge of the business and its objectives to provide sound advice related to risks.
  • Pragmatism & Critical thinking : Demonstrated the ability to address issues without existing frameworks and looking beyond the compliance checklist, but by asking the right questions to form an objective opinion.
  • Influencing & Challenge: Experience of effectively supporting, influencing and challenging stakeholders on key decisions and issues at various levels of the organization.
  • Profound interest for the business: Experience of moving beyond "designing" and “policing”, and embedding yourself into the business to provide stronger support and advice.
  • Other Assets : understanding of financial services risk/compliance landscape or other heavily regulated industry, broad exposure to various risk/compliance programs and exposure to managing corporate insurance portfolio.
