Role Purpose

The AV Events Technician will provide high-quality onsite audio visual and video conferencing support, ensuring meeting rooms, event spaces and collaboration technologies operate reliably, safely and effectively. The role is responsible for system operation, first-line troubleshooting, maintenance, event support and customer-facing service delivery in line with contractual requirements and service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, courteous and professional support for all customer requests, including short-notice assistance, meeting room administration and event support.
  • Operate, support and troubleshoot AV, video conferencing, presentation, display and control systems across meeting rooms and event spaces.
  • Diagnose faults accurately and complete first-line repairs, testing, escalation and handover where required.
  • Ensure all systems remain fully functional, minimising downtime and maintaining maximum performance.
  • Support high-profile meetings, executive boardrooms, corporate events and hybrid workplace environments.
  • Maintain meeting room standards, including safety, tidiness, cable management and presentation readiness.
  • Track and maintain accurate records for client hardware inventory, company files and customer documentation.
  • Provide guidance, support and training to colleagues or associated staff when required.
  • Comply with relevant health and safety requirements, including those relating to temporary event installations, manual handling and working at height.
  • Carry out other duties as reasonably required by company or client management.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting AV, video conferencing and collaboration technologies, including system operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and user support.
  • Working knowledge of communications, networking, audio visual systems and associated components.
  • Experience testing, fault finding, servicing and maintaining electronic audio visual systems or related technologies.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms or similar hybrid workplace technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology with the ability to diagnose issues under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Ability to interpret AV schematics, signal flow diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE and switching concepts.
  • Experience in IP-based and telephony-based video conferencing systems and event spaces.
  • High level of computer literacy and confidence using service management or ticketing systems.
  • Excellent customer-facing, stakeholder management and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, remain calm under pressure and maintain professional standards in a fast-paced front-of-house environment.
  • Organised, flexible and able to work independently or as part of a team, taking accountability for service delivery and quality standards.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Certifications

  • Knowledge of Crestron, Extron, AMX or similar AV control systems.
  • Understanding of audio DSP platforms such as Q-SYS, Biamp or BSS.
  • Familiarity with AV-over-IP technologies, including Dante, NDI and networked audio/video solutions.
  • Knowledge of ITIL or service management best practice.
  • CTS certification, or willingness to work towards CTS certification.
  • CTS-I, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Dante Level 1–3, Q-SYS Level 1–2 or relevant vendor certifications.
