About the Role

Are you a sharp, solutions-oriented accountant who thrives in an environment where the pace is fast, the problems are real, and the work actually matters? EnergyCAP is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team and take full ownership of our month-end close and reconciliation processes - while helping us build smarter, leaner accounting operations for the future.

Reporting directly to the Controller, you’ll be a trusted, high-ownership contributor from day one - leading our close cycle, driving process improvement, and partnering on complex areas like revenue recognition and sales tax compliance. This is a role where your voice matters: we want someone who raises their hand, speaks their mind, and moves the conversation forward.

For the right person, this is also a defined path toward an Accounting Manager role - giving you the opportunity to grow your scope and leadership as the company scales.

What You’ll Do

In your first year, you’ll make a measurable impact by:

  • Taking full ownership of month-end and year-end close alongside the Controller - with a clear near-term goal of driving the close cycle down to 5 days through process discipline and continuous improvement.
  • Preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations with a high degree of precision - you don’t just complete the work, you understand it and stand behind it.
  • Owning the sales tax process and compliance end-to-end - ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit-readiness across all applicable jurisdictions.
  • Leading a meaningful cleanup and ongoing partnership on revenue recognition - bringing structure, accuracy, and GAAP rigor to a critical area of the business.
  • Overseeing banking operations and managing AP/AR - keeping cash flow visibility sharp and vendor and customer relationships well-supported.
  • Delivering clear, insightful financial reports and flux analyses that translate numbers into narratives decision-makers can act on.
  • Serving as a reliable point of contact for audits, tax projects, and compliance work - bringing calm, preparation, and credibility to every engagement.
  • Partnering with the Controller to identify and eliminate inefficiencies streamlining workflows and building accounting infrastructure that scales with the business.

What You’ll Bring

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ability to own complex close processes and operate with minimal oversight. A public accounting background is a meaningful plus.
  •  SaaS or B2B technology company experience - you understand subscription revenue models, ARR dynamics, and the accounting nuances that come with them.
  • Deep US GAAP expertise - particularly around revenue recognition. You apply the standards confidently and can translate them clearly for non-finance partners.
  • NetSuite proficiency is required - you’ve used it at meaningful depth and know how to get the most out of it. Salesforce familiarity is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical instincts - you’re comfortable building models, identifying anomalies, and turning raw data into clear insight.
  •  you communicate proactively, build trust quickly, and thrive in an environment where priorities can shift.
  • A voice and a point of view - you raise your hand, challenge assumptions constructively, and bring solutions alongside your observations. We don’t want someone who waits to be told; we want someone who moves things forward.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA strongly preferred - and required if SaaS/technology experience is limited.
