About the Job:


The Electrical Drafter supports the planning, design, and documentation of electrical construction projects by preparing and maintaining electrical drawings, panel schedules, and circuit layouts. This role is responsible for drafting and updating electrical plans, assisting with electrical load calculations, and producing one-line diagrams that support project execution and estimating activities. Works closely with project managers, estimators, and engineering teams to ensure electrical documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements. The ideal candidate has strong drafting skills, attention to detail, and experience using industry-specific electrical design and estimating software.


What You'll Do:


Electrical Drafting Support

  • Draft, edit, and maintain panel schedules for future, active, and complete electrical projects.
  • Create and revise electrical circuitry layouts and markings on construction drawings and electrical plans.
  • Review and markup new plans, incorporating design changes and value engineering recommendations.
  • Draft electrical one-line diagrams that accurately represent project electrical systems and distribution layouts.
  • Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with project specifications and company standards.

Electrical Calculations & Project Support

  • Assist with panel kilowatt (KW) calculations and main electrical service sizing calculations.
  • Support project teams by preparing and updating electrical documentation required for estimating and project execution.
  • Review plans and specifications to identify discrepancies, omissions, or opportunities for optimization.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and technical personnel to ensure design accuracy and completeness.

Documentation & Quality Control

  • Maintain organized project files, drawings, revisions, and supporting documentation.
  • Track and manage drawing revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform quality checks on electrical drawings, panel schedules, and calculations to ensure accuracy

Communication & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders regarding design updates, revisions, and project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams to resolve design-related questions and discrepancies.

What You'll Bring:

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, training, or a combination of both in electrical drafting, electrical design support, estimating support, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction drawings, panel schedules, circuitry layouts, and one-line diagrams.
  • Familiarity with electrical load calculations, panel sizing, and electrical service calculations.
  • Proficiency in EBM (Electrical Bid Manager) integrated with EPIC pricing software.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam for plan review, markups, and document management.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, codes, and industry standards preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting, calculations, and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
