$28–$34/hour + Commission Opportunities | Take-Home Vehicle & Fuel Card | $500 Boot Allowance

You're not just a parts changer. You're the plumber customers call when they need the problem solved.

Five Star Home Services is looking for an experienced Residential Plumbing Service Technician who can independently diagnose plumbing problems, develop the right solution, and confidently guide homeowners through their good, better, best options.

We're specifically looking for a strong residential service plumber with the technical ability to handle advanced diagnostics and repairs—not someone who needs step-by-step support in the field.

If you know how to find the root cause, explain it clearly, and fix it right, we want to talk.

WHAT YOU GET

  • $28–$34/hour + commission opportunities
  • Take-home company vehicle + fuel card
  • $500 Boot Allowance
  • Dispatch from home — no overnight travel
  • Weekly pay
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance after 90 days
  • Company HSA contributions with HDHP enrollment
  • 401(k) with up to 4% company match after 90 days
  • Paid Time Off after 90 days + 6 Paid Holidays
  • Choose Your Five Star Benefit: Select a Five Star Home Services Home Maintenance Plan for your home (or a direct relative's home if you're not a homeowner) OR receive $150 in Five Star Company Store credits each quarter
  • Company-Paid Benefits: Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, $25,000 Life Insurance, Maternity & Paternity Pay, and Employee Assistance Program
  • Additional Voluntary Benefits: Accident, Critical Illness, Voluntary Life, Norton LifeLock & Spot Pet Insurance

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll run residential plumbing service calls throughout the market with the autonomy expected of an experienced technician.

Your job isn't simply to repair what's immediately visible. You'll diagnose the root cause, evaluate the overall system, explain your findings to the homeowner, present appropriate solutions, and complete safe, code-compliant repairs.

Depending on your skill level, your work may include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing residential water, drain, waste, vent, and gas systems
  • Diagnosing and replacing tank and tankless water heaters
  • Diagnosing water-pressure issues involving PRVs, expansion tanks, thermal expansion, and related components
  • Diagnosing and repairing gas leaks, including pressure testing when appropriate
  • Completing drain-line and piping repairs and replacements
  • Diagnosing and correcting sump pump and related system issues
  • Troubleshooting plumbing problems beyond the obvious symptom to identify the actual root cause
  • Evaluating repair-versus-replacement options and developing appropriate customer solutions
  • Handling higher-value residential repairs with limited supervision
  • Identifying code, safety, system-condition, and long-term reliability concerns
  • Testing and verifying completed repairs before leaving the customer's home
  • Accurately documenting findings, completed work, photos, and recommendations in ServiceTitan

YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO TALK TO CUSTOMERS, TOO

Technical ability is only half of this position.

You'll be trusted to work directly with homeowners and represent Five Star in their homes. That means being able to:

  • Explain what failed, why it failed, and what you recommend doing about it
  • Build appropriate good/better/best repair or replacement options when the situation calls for them
  • Prepare accurate estimates for residential plumbing repairs
  • Clearly explain code, safety, and long-term system concerns
  • Help customers understand their options without using high-pressure tactics
  • Protect the customer's property and leave the work area clean and professional
  • Communicate proactively when the scope of work changes
  • Create an experience that makes the customer confident they called the right plumber

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

This is not an entry-level plumbing position.

We're looking for a technician operating at a strong independent-service level who can handle most residential calls without requiring another technician or manager to diagnose the problem for them.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong residential plumbing service and diagnostic experience
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot common and complex plumbing problems
  • Strong working knowledge of residential water, waste, drain, vent, gas, and water-heating systems
  • Tank and tankless water-heater diagnostic and service capability
  • Water-pressure and system-component diagnostic ability
  • Strong understanding of applicable plumbing codes and safe work practices
  • Ability to determine appropriate repair versus replacement solutions
  • Ability to build accurate estimates and present repair options to homeowners
  • Ability to complete clean, code-compliant repairs and verify your work
  • Strong customer communication and professionalism
  • Ability to use ServiceTitan or similar field-service technology
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of residential plumbing service work
  • Ability to participate in scheduled on-call, weekend, and overtime coverage as needed

EVEN BETTER IF YOU CAN...

We're especially interested in experienced technicians who can also:

  • Diagnose and plan whole-home repipes or major water-distribution repairs
  • Diagnose complex gas leaks and complete pressure testing
  • Plan complex drain, waste, vent, or stack repairs
  • Diagnose well-pump, pressure-tank, and well-system issues
  • Develop solutions for larger water-treatment or pressure-correction projects
  • Handle complex, multi-day repair planning
  • Take ownership of high-value service opportunities from diagnosis through approved solution
  • Provide technical support or coaching to less-experienced technicians

If you can do these things consistently, we want to know about it.

WHAT A GREAT FIVE STAR SERVICE TECH LOOKS LIKE

Our strongest Plumbing Service Technicians don't measure their ability by how quickly they can replace a part.

They:

  • Diagnose before they recommend
  • Look for the root cause instead of treating symptoms
  • Know when a repair makes sense—and when it doesn't
  • Understand the code, safety, financial, and long-term implications of their recommendations
  • Give homeowners options and explain them clearly
  • Take ownership of the service call from diagnosis through completed repair
  • Complete clean, safe work they're willing to put their name on
  • Catch potential problems before they become callbacks
  • Know when to ask for help rather than create unnecessary risk
  • Represent senior-level workmanship and professionalism in the customer's home

If you're an experienced residential plumber who can diagnose the problem, develop the solution, explain it to the customer, and execute the repair, we'd like to talk.

Apply today and bring your experience to Five Star.
