About the Role

Forterra is seeking an experienced Facility Security Officer (FSO) to lead our industrial security program and support the Company as we scale. This role is responsible for maintaining a strong security posture while enabling business growth, supporting program execution, and ensuring compliance with applicable government security requirements. The FSO will work closely with leadership, program teams, HR, IT, Contracts, and government stakeholders to maintain a security program that scales with the organization.


The ideal candidate combines strong industrial security expertise with a practical, collaborative approach. They are comfortable operating independently, building relationships across the organization, and balancing compliance requirements with the needs of a fast-moving business.


What You'll Do

  • Administer and maintain Forterra's industrial security program in accordance with the NISPOM and applicable government requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and other government security representatives.
  • Manage personnel security activities, including clearance processing, visit requests, briefings, and related security requirements.
  • Maintain security records and required systems, including DISS, NISS, and other applicable government platforms.
  • Support physical security operations, including access control, visitor management, and facility security procedures.
  • Coordinate security assessments, self-inspections, and audit preparation activities, ensuring corrective actions are tracked and completed.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and employee security awareness programs.
  • Partner with Program Management, Contracts, HR, IT, and leadership to support classified programs and future business opportunities.
  • Advise leadership on security requirements, compliance matters, and program risks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen security operations, and support organizational growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Secret clearance.
  • 3–5+ years of industrial security experience supporting cleared government or defense programs.
  • Experience serving as an FSO, AFSO, Security Manager, CPSO, or in a similar security leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of the NISPOM and DCSA security requirements.
  • Experience supporting organizations operating under FOCI mitigation measures.
  • Experience managing personnel security and facility security programs within a cleared contractor environment.
  • Hands-on experience with DISS, NISS, and related government security systems.
  • Experience supporting security assessments, audits, or compliance reviews.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as an FSO for a safeguarding or possessing facility.
  • COMSEC Custodian or Alternate COMSEC Custodian experience.
  • Completion of the CDSE FSO Program Management curriculum or equivalent professional training.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as NCMS, ASIS, or similar industry groups.
  • Experience supporting multiple facilities, locations, or classified programs.
  • Active Top Secret clearance or eligibility for additional access.
  • Professional certifications such as ISP®, CPP®, PSP®, SFPC®, or related credentials.


US Salary Range
 $125,000.00—$170,000.00
 

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package. In addition to base salary and equity, Forterra offers competitive benefits for full-time employees including:
