Frontier Psychiatry

Systems Integration & Automation Specialist

About Frontier Psychiatry

Frontier Psychiatry is a physician-led, tech-enabled telehealth organization improving mental wellbeing in rural communities. We deliver psychiatry, therapy, and addiction medicine through virtual care built specifically for places where care is hardest to reach.

We are a training site for the Yale Child Study Center, and our published research in JAMA Network Open found 38% lower hospitalization rates among the Montana Medicaid patients we serve.

We are guided by healthcare's Quintuple Aim: excellent patient care, a supported team, lower total cost of care, better population health, and greater health equity. We are a growing, post-Series A team. Our tools are how we deliver care, so when they work well together, patients get seen faster.

This is a fully remote position.

The Short Version

  • Full-time, exempt position: $65,000–75,000 per year, based on experience.
  • Work arrangement: Remote.
  • Own our integrations: Connect our software systems, maintain existing integrations, and keep data flowing reliably.
  • Build and automate: Create new integrations, automations, internal apps, scripts, and workflows.
  • Use AI coding tools: Prototype quickly, test solutions, and determine when no-code tools are sufficient versus when custom code is needed.
  • Protect patient information: Design integrations with HIPAA, protected health information (PHI), access controls, logging, and safe error handling in mind.
  • Work across teams: Partner with clinical, billing, credentialing, HR, and operations teams to turn manual processes into reliable workflows.
  • Document your work: Create data maps, runbooks, and system diagrams so others can support what you build.
  • Help shape a growing role: This is Frontier Psychiatry's first dedicated integration role, with room for the position to grow as the organization grows.

Why This Role Exists

You will own how our software talks to itself. We run more than a dozen systems, from our EHR to billing, phones, HR, and a CRM we built in-house. Many of them could share data automatically but don't yet.

Your job is to connect them, keep those connections healthy, and automate the manual work in between, all without putting patient data at risk.

You will work directly with our Director of IT and with leaders across clinical, billing, and operations. You will see your work change how fast patients get scheduled, billed, and followed up.

Schedule & Commitment

This is a full-time, exempt position.

Location: Remote.

You will work directly with the Director of IT and collaborate with teams across the organization to build, maintain, and improve integrations and automations that support Frontier Psychiatry's operations.

What You'll Do

Systems integration and maintenance

  • Maintain existing integrations. Monitor data flows, find what is broken or slow, and fix it.
  • Modify integrations as workflows and vendors change.
  • Build new integrations and automations across the stack, from design to deployment.Automation and development
  • Prototype fast. Use AI coding tools to build, test, and ship small internal apps, scripts, and workflows.
  • Decide when a no-code tool is enough and when a solution needs code.

Security and compliance

  • Protect PHI. Design every integration with HIPAA in mind: least-privilege access, business associate agreements (BAAs), logging, and safe error handling.

Documentation and collaboration

  • Document what you build so others can support it: data maps, runbooks, and system diagrams.
  • Partner with clinical, billing, credentialing, and HR teams to turn their manual steps into reliable workflows.
  • Work directly with the Director of IT and leaders across clinical, billing, and operations.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means maintaining reliable integrations, identifying and resolving broken or slow data flows, building useful automations, protecting patient information, and helping teams replace manual steps with reliable workflows.

Your work will help our systems operate together more effectively and support how quickly patients get scheduled, billed, and followed up.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 2+ years connecting software systems through REST APIs, webhooks, and data mapping (JSON, CSV, HL7 or FHIR a plus).
  • Hands-on experience with an automation or iPaaS platform such as Keragon, Zapier, Make, n8n, or Workato.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and how to handle PHI safely in integrations.
  • Comfort writing or AI-assisting code (JavaScript, Python, or similar) and deploying what you build.
  • A habit of documenting your work and explaining it in plain language to non-technical teammates.

Nice to have

  • Experience in healthcare technology, especially EHRs, billing systems, or health information exchanges.
  • Experience with Google Workspace administration or Apps Script.
  • Familiarity with any tool in our stack.
  • Ties to Montana, Idaho, or Alaska.

If you meet most of these and learn fast, apply.

What We Offer

Expanding access to behavioral health care depends on supporting the people who make it possible. That means real support, not a mission statement.

  • $65,000–75,000  salary.
  • 100% remote.
  • 3 weeks of paid vacation (120 hours), plus 40 hours of sick time.
  • Your birthday off, paid.
  • 9.5 paid holidays.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • 100% employer-paid premiums for employee-only medical, dental, vision, and accident coverage.
  • HSA option.
  • Stock options.
  • Company-provided equipment.

Growth

This is our first dedicated integration role. As we grow, the role can grow with you.

How to Apply

Send your resume and a short note about one integration or automation you built:

  • What did it connect?
  • What broke?
  • How did you fix it?

Links to code, demos, or workflows are welcome.
