Head of Workshop

Help Accelerate Industrial Decarbonization

Join exceptional people from around the world to solve some of the world's toughest energy challenges, make a real impact, and enjoy the adventure of building the future of industrial decarbonization together.

As our Head of Workshop, you will create the environment where our engineering ideas become real. You will take ownership of our workshop and technical facilities in Stuttgart—developing test benches, manufacturing and assembling prototypes, operating our 3D-printing capabilities, and supporting straightforward electrical and control work.

Working closely with our engineering teams, you will take ideas from an initial concept through manufacturing and assembly to testing and reliable operation. You will make sure our workshop, equipment, and facilities are safe, well organized, and ready to support the development of our technology.

Your Impact

The things you build and the environment you create will directly support the development of GlassPoint’s solar-thermal technology.

You will help engineers test ideas faster, solve practical challenges, and turn concepts into working equipment. By building reliable test capabilities and creating a safe, effective workshop, you will play a hands-on role in moving our technology—and industrial decarbonization—forward.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and build test benches, prototypes and workshop equipment.
  • Take concepts through design, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning.
  • Manufacture, modify and repair mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Operate and manage our 3D-printing capabilities.
  • Add simple electrical components, sensors and controls to test equipment.
  • Run and maintain test benches and support engineers during testing.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and find practical ways to improve it.
  • Organize workshop activities, tools, materials and spare parts.
  • Coordinate external manufacturers, suppliers and service providers when needed.
  • Make sure machinery, tools and facilities are properly maintained and inspected.
  • Keep the workshop and technical facilities safe, practical and well organized.
  • Help shape the future set-up and capabilities of our Stuttgart facility.

Who You Are

You’re someone who likes to understand how things work—and then make them work better.

You are equally comfortable discussing an idea with an engineer, building the first version in the workshop and fixing it when something does not behave as expected. You work independently, but you also enjoy being part of a team that shares ideas and solves problems together.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A technical qualification in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, manufacturing, electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in a workshop, prototyping, testing or industrial environment.
  • Experience building and operating test benches or similar technical equipment.
  • Good practical knowledge of manufacturing, mechanical assembly and 3D printing.
  • The ability to read technical drawings and use CAD for straightforward designs or modifications.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, instrumentation and controls.
  • A good understanding of workshop and machinery safety.
  • A structured and reliable approach to organizing work, equipment and facilities.
  • The confidence to work with engineers, suppliers and contractors.
  • Professional working proficiency in German and English.
  • Experience in renewable energy, industrial testing or first-of-a-kind technology would be helpful, but curiosity, practical ability and a willingness to get involved matter just as much.

GlassPoint helps heavy industry decarbonize by replacing fuel-based steam with solar thermal heat. This reduces energy costs and improves long-term energy security. We’re a proven technology, already operating some of the world’s largest solar steam projects across sun-belt regions in oil and gas, metals, and mining.
