ROLE OVERVIEW
We're looking for a Lead Electronics Technician to own the day-to-day operations of our electronics lab in Kirkland, WA. This role is hands-on and high-impact: you'll troubleshoot and repair complex assemblies to the component level, partner with engineers on new product bring-up, and serve as the technical anchor for junior technicians on the team. You'll operate with minimal supervision and bring both the technical depth and the communication skills to get things done right.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Execution
• Perform in-depth troubleshooting of complex functional failures to the component level on electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Apply root cause analysis methodology — identify the why, not just replace parts.
• Execute component-level repairs per J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards.
• Perform assembly operations on proof-of-concept devices, repaired units, test equipment, and small production runs using engineering documentation.
• Partner with electronics engineers on new assembly bring-up and troubleshooting.
Testing & Documentation
• Perform manual testing and interpret results from standard and special-purpose test equipment: multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, and oscilloscopes.
• Execute automated testing using a variety of ATE and special test consoles on newly manufactured products and product returns.
• Build and/or modify test equipment and test racks as needed.
• Document findings clearly and accurately — detailed descriptions of testing performed, observed failures, and root cause investigation results.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Oversee day-to-day lab operations and step in to solve issues as they arise.
• Act as a technical resource and mentor for junior technicians — share expertise, build capability, and help solve challenging problems.
• Collaborate directly with engineers, manufacturers, and customers with professionalism and clarity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years of experience in a high-reliability, compliance-focused industry such as aerospace, defense, or medical.
• Deep working knowledge of circuit boards, electronic equipment, and highly integrated systems including FPGAs and microcontrollers.
• Experience with digital signal processing circuits, including high-speed video and audio signals.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, test procedures, specifications, BOMs, and related engineering documentation.
• Proficient in soldering to IPC-A-610 workmanship standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; working knowledge of Teams, Slack, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills — able to instruct, collaborate, and interact effectively across teams.
• Self-directed, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• AA degree in Electronic Technology or equivalent knowledge through experience or recognized education.
WHY JOIN US
• Work on world-class aviation A/V hardware used in elite business jets — products that demand precision and craft.
• Small, experienced team where your contributions are visible and your voice is heard.
• Collaborative environment with engineers who take quality seriously.
• Onsite role in Kirkland, WA with a consistent 5×8 schedule.
