Position Summary
Hunter Strategy is seeking an experienced Director of IT to lead our internal technology operations and infrastructure. This critical leadership role will oversee enterprise IT systems, ensure compliance with rigorous security frameworks, and serve as the strategic bridge between IT operations, the rest of the corporate center, and our technical delivery teams. The Director of IT will manage desktop support staff, maintain our technology stack across multi-platform environments, oversee and engage with corporate IT engineering efforts, and ensure our internal systems meet the same high standards of security and compliance that we deliver to our federal clients.
This position requires a strong hands-on technical leader who can balance operational excellence with strategic planning, maintain security posture aligned with federal compliance requirements, and foster collaboration across corporate functions and technical delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & Infrastructure Management
- Oversee the management and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure to include Windows, MacOS, M365, AWS, Okta, Atlassian, and Salesforce environments
 - Lead the enterprise endpoint and patch management strategy, ensuring vulnerability remediation and seamless lifecycle management of all corporate devices (macOS, Windows, iOS, Android).
 - Establish standardized configuration, compliance, and patch management policies across all platforms (macOS, Windows, iOS, Android).
 - Manage cloud tenant administration, account provisioning, and resource management governance through Identity and Access (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) frameworks following Zero Trust principles across all operational environments
 - Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, license management, and cost optimization efforts
 - Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all IT systems and services
 - Develop and maintain IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans
 - Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks and change management processes
 - Create and maintain comprehensive internal IT policies standard operating procedures documentation
 
Security & Compliance Governance
- Maintain compliance and enhancement of security controls aligned with ISO 27001 and CMMC Level 2 frameworks
 - Ensure IT operations comply with federal cybersecurity requirements (NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171)
 - Partner with Internal GRC and security management POCs to maintain continuous compliance posture
 - Coordinate with Cyber Fusion Center on internal security monitoring, incident response and ongoing CFC initiatives within the corporate environment
 - Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability management for internal systems
 
Leadership & Team Management
- Develop internal support desk team capabilities through training, professional development, and knowledge sharing
 - Establish service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for IT services
 - Foster a customer-service oriented culture within the IT team
 - Conduct performance reviews and provide career development guidance
 
Innovation and Strategic Alignment
- Support business development efforts with IT capabilities documentation and technical responses
 - Develop and execute IT strategic roadmap aligned with business objectives
 - Collaborate with Technical Solutions Team to evaluate and implement new technologies to improve operational efficiencies
 - Act as a lead stakeholder in corporate engineering initiatives in conjunction with other technical and executive personnel.
 
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in desktop endpoint engineering, senior systems management and administration
 - 3+ years in IT leadership or management roles
 - Experience managing IT operations in a professional services or consulting environment including IT governance, risk management and audit processes.
 - Experience supporting organizations with robust compliance requirements. Familiarity with federal security requirements and compliance standards strongly preferred, including a demonstrated understanding of NIST cybersecurity frameworks (800-53, 800-171), ISO 27001, CMMC L2.
 - Proficiency in Windows system administration and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune)
 - Hands-on experience administering Okta, Atlassian suite, Salesforce, and AWS or similar systems
 - Proficiency with identity management (IAM) and application provisioning
 - Working knowledge of AWS services, account management, and cost optimization
 - Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation through Microsoft Intune
 - Advanced macOS management experience and strong scripting skills for automation through Jamf Pro (bash, Python)
 - Experience with endpoint security solutions (EDR/XDR) through Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and asset management

- Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain technical teams
 - Strong project management and organizational skills
 - Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
 - Experience working cross-functionally with multiple departments and leadership teams

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
 - Relevant certifications such as:
 - CISSP, CISM, or other security certifications
 - Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
 - AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator
 
- Experience with CMMC assessment and preparation processes
 - Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and GitOps workflows
 - Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, and security orchestration tools
 - Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and implementation
 - Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
 - Prior experience in cybersecurity consulting or federal contracting environments
 
 
Work Environment
- This is a full-time hybrid position based at either of Hunter Strategy's office locations (Washington, DC metro area or Fort Lauderdale, FL metro area).
 - Standard business hours with flexibility for after-hours maintenance windows and emergency response
 - On-call availability for critical IT incidents
 - Security clearance eligibility required
