Position Applied AI Business Systems Engineer

Department: Business Transformation (Operations)

At Interplay Learning, we are at a pivotal stage of growth where AI isn't just a tool—it’s the architect of our future “AI first” operating system. We need an Applied AI Business Systems Engineer who moves with the speed of a startup but the intentionality of a craftsman.  This founding role in the Business Transformation Office requires a builder to audit workflows, develop rapid AI prototypes, and establish governance frameworks that bridge agentic AI capabilities with measurable business value.

If you’re a builder who values spirited discourse and believes that technology should serve people (and not the other way around), we want you to help us architect our next chapter.

Key requirements include 5-7+ years in digital transformation or applicable field with a focus on B2B SaaS companies, 1+ year of hands-on GenAI or agentic AI deployment, and technical proficiency in Python/TypeScript, RAG pipelines, and agentic AI solutions.

Please note, this role is not involved with our Product & Content teams. You’ll focus on business systems (process & technology) for our 250+ person, B2B SaaS company.  For example, using AI to help Account Executives and Account Directors win more often.

Why this position:

  • Founding AI Role: Act as the architect and builder for our internal "AI-First" operating system.
  • Meaningful, impactful work: Bridge cutting-edge AI capabilities with practical business value to drive measurable efficiency.
  • Mission-driven company: Build better careers and lives through innovative EdTech, VR, and AI.
  • Career development: Opportunity to lead a dedicated AI team and explore commercialization of AI initiatives.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the AI Opportunity Map: Lead the discovery process to audit current workflows and identify high-value friction points for AI transformation.
  • AI Implementation: Provide hands-on development of rapid prototypes and production-ready AI tooling using low-code tools and existing tech stacks.
  • Value Realization: Define and track ROI via dashboards for "Hours Saved," "Cost Avoidance," and "Revenue Impact."
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Develop and own the architecture and tooling for the internal AI ecosystem.
  • Governance & Literacy: Establish governance frameworks for data privacy and deliver educational sessions to upskill the workforce.

Who you are:

  • Pragmatic Idealist: You have a bias for action and rapid prototyping, but you possess the empathy to ensure AI augments—rather than replaces—the human elements of our culture.
  • Cross-Functional Translator: You can fluently explain technical AI concepts (like context windows) to executive leadership and business logic to developers.
  • Bias for Action: You are a pragmatic builder who opens a code editor to prove a solution works rather than just recommending it.
  • Systems Thinker: You connect dots across the wider ecosystem, testing small but building for scale.
  • User-Centric: You are obsessed with the internal customer experience and balancing technical constraints with user needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5-7+ years in Digital Transformation, Product Management, or Technical Strategy, with at least 1+ year specifically in agentic AI deployment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to build agentic AI solutions using Python or TypeScript; expertise in RAG pipelines, orchestration frameworks, and data chunking.
  • Data Fluency: Strong backend foundations (JSON, SQL) and experience with API integrations and event-driven pipelines.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and be current U.S. residents.
  • Post-offer background check and drug/alcohol testing are required.

Pay:

  • Salary Range: $145,000 - $180,000
