Licensed Architect

We’re looking for a Licensed Architect who wants to step out of the traditional firm model and take a more hands-on role in shaping projects from concept through construction.

As part of our in-house Development Services team, you’ll work across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and office projects, with the opportunity to stay involved from early design through final build. This is a role for someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of architecture and wants to see their work come to life.


What You'll Do

  • Develop and present schematic designs for new construction and renovation projects
  • Create drawings and visual materials to communicate design concepts and options
  • Partner with internal teams and external consultants to integrate code, zoning, ADA, structural, and MEP requirements
  • Contribute to and help coordinate the preparation of construction documentation
  • Select materials and systems aligned with project goals, budgets, and timelines
  • Participate in site visits to support construction progress and coordination
  • Help respond to RFIs and provide design clarification during construction
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across development, construction, and operations
  • Support early-stage project planning and site evaluation efforts
  • Stay current with building codes, standards, and evolving design practices

Experience and Qualifications

  • Licensed Architect (Illinois preferred; ability to obtain Illinois licensure if not already held)
  • 5+ years of experience across design, documentation, and project delivery
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp, Adobe Suite, and Excel
  • Working knowledge of IBC and applicable building codes
  • Experience across multiple project types and phases (new construction, renovations, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to visit project sites as needed

Work Environment
This role is primarily based in our Champaign, IL office, with regular in-person collaboration and site visits. While we prefer candidates who can be locally based, we may consider flexible arrangements for the right candidate.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary - $85,000-$110,000 annually**

**The salary range listed for this position represents the range of compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
