About the role

Hotel Bardo Savannah is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to help lead the engineering, maintenance, facilities, and life-safety operations of our luxury hotel.

Reporting to the Area Director of Engineering, the Assistant Director of Engineering will support the daily operation of the department while helping ensure the property is maintained to the standards expected of an upscale, full-service hotel.

This role is designed for an accomplished hotel engineering leader who is ready for the next step in their career. The ideal candidate has developed strong technical and leadership experience within a sophisticated full-service, luxury, or upscale hotel environment and is ready to expand their responsibility across team leadership, preventive maintenance, building systems, compliance, budgeting, projects, and hotel operations.

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Area Director of Engineering and hotel leadership while continuing to develop the operational and administrative capabilities needed to lead an engineering department independently. This position offers meaningful exposure to complex hotel operations, capital projects, luxury service standards, and senior engineering leadership, with the opportunity for continued advancement within the organization.

This is an onsite position located at Hotel Bardo Savannah in Savannah, Georgia. Candidates should have engineering or maintenance leadership experience within a full-service hotel or resort environment.

  • Prioritize work orders and respond with urgency to guest-impacting issues, operational disruptions, safety concerns, and facilities-related emergencies.
  • Maintain inspections, permits, equipment records, maintenance logs, compliance documentation, and departmental reporting.
  • Partner with Rooms, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Security, and hotel leadership to support seamless hotel operations and the guest experience.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, purchasing, inventory, vendor management, contracts, and expense control.
  • Coordinate contractors and support capital projects, renovations, equipment replacements, and property improvement initiatives.
  • Help strengthen engineering SOPs, preventive maintenance standards, safety practices, and operational processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Area Director of Engineering and engineering leaders across both Savannah properties.
