Luminary

QE Architect

Luminary helps engineering companies be more competitive by getting to market faster, creating new, better products, and reducing development risk. We do this with our Physics AI platform, the fastest and easiest way to build and deploy models to understand and instantly predict physical reality with precision. Customers span industries from automotive and aerospace, to leading sporting equipment providers, including Otto Aviation, Joby Aviation, Piper Aircraft and Trek Bikes. Luminary is a Series B company and is headquartered in San Mateo, California.

  • Luminary is the platform for engineering teams building and operating Physics AI at scale. We enable engineers to encode physics into AI — transforming how physical systems are designed, built, and operated across aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial sectors. Customers like Northrop Grumman, Joby Aviation, Honda, and Otto Aviation rely on Luminary to move faster, explore more design options, and make better decisions across the product lifecycle.
  • Physics AI is the next frontier of engineering intelligence, and we're building the platform that makes it real. That means working with cutting-edge ML architectures, petabyte-scale simulation datasets, real-time inference, and deployment environments ranging from public cloud to air-gapped defense networks.
  • QE is quickly evolving into a strategic function that ensures that a combination of humans and agents are able to deliver the highest level of quality while continuously delivering software
  • We're looking for an AI-First QE Architect to own quality engineering across the entire Luminary platform. This is a senior individual contributor and architectural leadership role — you won't just write tests, you'll define how quality is built into the system from the ground up, with AI at the center of your approach.
  • This role spans the full platform: data generation (geometry, mesh, solve) , physics AI model training and inference and the complete end to end platform that supports the same, and the developer-facing SDKs and UIs that engineering customers use every day. You'll partner closely with platform engineering, ML, and product to ensure that Luminary's Physics AI systems are reliable, accurate, and production-ready in even the most demanding environments.

Background / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related fields, with 5+ years of industry experience as a QE architect for an entire platform stack
  • Programming: Proficiency in Python is required, with experience writing production-level code. Familiarity with BASH and SQL is expected. Strong programming skills in additional languages such as Go and C++ are a plus.
  • Cloud and Containerization: Solid experience with at least one cloud platform such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and Vertex AI.
  • QE frameworks: Experience with QE framework used to build performance testing, scale testing and longevity testing
  • Proficient in Claude Code: Should be extremely comfortable with building software using Claude Code and operationalizing a system of agents into the code review and test development and test execution process essentially turning the end to end process into an automated factory

The ultimate goal is that the candidate will help us build and maintain the QE framework , test automation and integrating them into our CI/CD and regression test pipelines to ensure that we have predictable product quality going out the door

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Demonstrated experience as a QE architect
  • Can work as an IC across teams influencing developers to adopt frameworks and improve test coverage
  • Hands-on and writing code with velocity
  • Curious and a quick learner
  • Low ego and collaborative
  • Heavy interest in physics, with some exposure a plus
