Director of Marketing & Communications

Focus Areas

Reports To

Chief Strategic Officer (CSO)

Location

Denver, CO, or Redondo, CA

HE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on marketing and communications leader to build and lead Parallax’s integrated marketing and communications function. Reporting to the CSO, this director will translate business priorities into a differentiated market narrative, coordinated campaigns, executive communications, and measurable engagement with customers, partners, media and investors. The role combines strategy ownership with disciplined execution and the ability to scale a team and external partner network as the company grows.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Own the company-wide marketing and communications strategy, annual roadmap, editorial priorities, operating budget and performance metrics in alignment with the CSO and executive leadership.

Develop and steward Parallax’s corporate brand, messaging architecture and differentiated positioning across SatStack™, SatFactory™ and LIST™; ensure a consistent narrative across customer, partner, media and investor touchpoints.

Lead integrated campaigns, product and mission announcements, website content, digital marketing, social channels (including LinkedIn and X), events and executive thought leadership.

Serve as the day-to-day leader for corporate communications and media relations; cultivate relationships with business and space-sector journalists, editors, publishers and podcast hosts; prepare executives for interviews and speaking opportunities.

Partner with the CSO and external PR–IR advisors on investor-facing narratives, presentations, press materials, major announcements and stakeholder communications, with appropriate legal and executive approvals.

Establish clear review and release processes for sensitive technical, customer, partner and launch-provider content, coordinating approvals and maintaining version control and records.

Direct creative agencies, PR–IR partners, designers, video producers and other vendors; define scopes, manage budgets, assess quality and hold partners accountable for outcomes.

Build scalable marketing operations, including campaign calendars, asset libraries, analytics dashboards, workflow tools and brand standards; hire, mentor and manage internal team members as the function expands.

Work cross-functionally with business development, engineering, products, programs and executive leadership to translate complex space technology into compelling, accurate business communications.

Track market trends, competitor positioning, share of voice, audience quality, engagement, web traffic and campaign effectiveness; provide executive-level reporting and recommendations.

WHAT YOU BRING

Typically 8–12+ years in marketing, corporate communications, public relations or related leadership roles, including ownership of multi-channel programs and management of teams or agencies.

Demonstrated success shaping brand strategy and executive-level communications in aerospace, defense, space, advanced technology or another complex B2B industry; space-sector knowledge strongly preferred.

Excellent strategic writing and editorial judgment, with the ability to communicate sophisticated technical and business topics clearly to different audiences.

Established media relationships and experience leading press outreach, executive interviews, announcements, crisis or issues communications and external agency coordination.

Experience supporting investor relations or investor-facing communications in partnership with executive, finance and legal stakeholders.

Strong command of digital channels, LinkedIn and X, web/CMS workflows, analytics, campaign planning and performance measurement.

Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing executive-level initiatives, handle confidential information and build processes without losing execution speed.

Experience developing budgets, selecting vendors, leading cross-functional stakeholders and building or mentoring teams.

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

Parallax has a clear, differentiated and consistently executed market narrative. Major campaigns and announcements launch on time with appropriate approvals. Qualified awareness, customer and partner engagement, relevant media coverage and digital performance improve against agreed targets. Executives are well supported with high-quality communications, external providers deliver measurable value, and the marketing function develops scalable systems and talent.
