PFP Logistics LLC

Business Development Intern

Job Type: Internship, Part-Time (internship-to-hire potential for the right candidate)

Schedule + Pay

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible (approximately 15–25 hours per week)
  • Pay: $15–$18 per hour, depending on experience
  • Work Location: In person (office, warehouse, and local client visits)
  • Education: Current college student or recent graduate preferred

Position

  • As a Sales & Business Development Intern, you’ll work directly with our sales and leadership teams to identify new business opportunities, build relationships with prospective clients, and help expand our customer base.
  • This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in sales, lead generation, and client relationship management, with exposure to the operations side of the business.
  • While this is primarily a sales and business development role, you’ll also spend time inside the warehouse environments we support, working alongside our operations teams. Seeing how our teams work firsthand will help you explain our value to prospective clients and understand their needs.
  • We’re looking for someone proactive, resourceful, and persistent who enjoys meeting new people, is comfortable picking up the phone, and wants to build practical sales skills at a rapidly growing company.

Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development
    • Conduct outbound calls, emails, and other outreach to generate new business opportunities
    • Research potential customers, target industries, and new markets to identify qualified leads
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects through consistent outreach and follow-up
    • Schedule meetings, introductory calls, and in-person visits with potential customers
    • Educate prospects on PFP’s staffing, warehouse operations, and logistics support services
    • Identify client needs and communicate how PFP can improve their efficiency and productivity
    • Support the sales team with proposals, pricing information, and moving opportunities through the sales process
    • Participate in outside sales activities, including visiting prospects and building relationships in the local business community
  • Research, Organization & CRM Management
    • Maintain accurate prospect and customer information in our CRM
    • Document outreach, follow-ups, client conversations, and next steps
    • Build prospect lists and research target accounts
    • Track outreach activity, appointments, and sales performance metrics
    • Collaborate with sales and leadership on business development projects
    • Participate in sales meetings, coaching sessions, and professional development opportunities
  • Warehouse & Operations Exposure
    • Spend time in PFP-supported warehouses to learn how our teams operate and deliver for clients
    • Shadow onsite management and, when appropriate, assist with warehouse operations to gain firsthand experience
    • Learn about workflows, staffing needs, productivity expectations, and operational challenges
    • Gain exposure to new site start-ups, client operations, and the recruiting and onboarding process
    • Apply what you learn to sales conversations to differentiate PFP from traditional staffing providers
    • This is primarily a sales and business development position. Warehouse exposure is intended to give you practical knowledge of the services you’ll be selling.

Requirements

  • Current college student or recent graduate, preferably in business, sales, marketing, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable making cold calls and starting conversations with people you’ve never met
  • Willingness to learn prospecting, objection handling, and follow-up, and to handle rejection with a positive attitude
  • Comfortable in both office and warehouse environments, and in a fast-paced, hands-on setting
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to learn
  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional, personable, and confident with prospective clients and business partners
  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar tools (CRM familiarity is a plus)
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for client visits and warehouse exposure

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on sales and business development experience, including prospecting, lead generation, and relationship building
  • Practical experience using CRM systems and tracking sales performance
  • Firsthand insight into warehouse operations and the logistics industry
  • Mentorship from company leadership, experienced sales professionals, and onsite managers
  • Professional development in communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship management
  • Internship-to-hire potential and long-term growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding company

Ideal Candidate

  • You don’t need to know everything about sales or logistics when you start!
  • You should be energetic, curious, and persistent, willing to ask questions, take initiative, learn from feedback, and put in the effort to build relationships and generate opportunities.
  • If you enjoy meeting people, are motivated by goals, and want to see how sales connects to real-world business operations, we encourage you to apply!
