Silicon & Systems Technical Product Manager

About Positron AI

Positron AI is building next-generation AI inference accelerators designed from the ground up for low-latency, high-throughput large language model inference. Our first-generation ASIC, Asimov, is a cutting-edge accelerator targeting frontier AI workloads, with additional generations already underway.

Role Overview

Positron AI is looking for a technical product planning leader to own the definition of our silicon and systems product line, from accelerator architecture through to full rack scale inference systems. This is the person who decides what we build, why we build it, and how we explain that decision to engineering, to our go-to-market teams, and to our customers.

You will write the PRDs that anchor our hardware roadmap, translate customer and market signals into concrete engineering requirements, and maintain the analytical backbone (performance modeling, competitive landscaping, cost and efficiency math) that makes those requirements defensible. The role sits at the intersection of deep silicon detail and cloud scale deployment reality, and it carries real influence over the direction of the product.

Key Responsibilities

Product Definition and Requirements

  • Serve as the leader at Positron AI for all aspects of silicon and systems technical product planning.
  • Write PRDs for our inference servers and inference rack systems, spanning silicon architecture, CPU and memory, through to rack scale system design.
  • Define and manage the product lifecycle and SKU strategy across generations.
  • Create scope and feasibility frameworks that convert advanced technology ideas and innovations into tangible, actionable engineering requests.

Roadmap and Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Partner with engineering and go-to-market teams to build and communicate a coherent product roadmap.
  • Work closely with go-to-market teams to understand customer and market needs, and translate them into product direction.
  • Own the decision history for the product line, acting as the documented answer to "why did we choose X," including with executive leadership.

Market, Competitive, and Partner Intelligence

  • Create and maintain competitive briefings covering the AI inference hardware landscape.
  • Engage key supply chain and technology partners to understand their technology roadmaps and factor them into our planning.

Documentation, Process, and AI Leverage

  • Ensure our hardware and systems products are thoroughly and accurately documented.
  • Streamline and automate product planning processes using agentic AI, scaling your own output through agent workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience across a strong mix of silicon and systems technical disciplines, as outlined below.
  • Deep expertise in silicon or systems engineering and architecture (AI accelerator, CPU/GPU, networking, or memory systems), with direct ownership of feature, PPA, or architecture trade-offs.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud scale server and computing systems deployments, including power and cooling envelopes, rack integration, networking, fleet-wide telemetry, and failure and RMA workflows.
  • Strong command of performance analysis spanning silicon and systems, including roofline modeling, bandwidth utilization, and $/GB and perf/W arithmetic, with the ability to build and defend the math personally.
  • Proven ability to move quickly between low-level silicon detail and rack scale system behavior, paired with a habit of staying current on the AI hardware landscape.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort navigating uncertainty and driving a deliberate process of idea and decision socialization.
  • Comfortable being the most technically grounded person in a go-to-market room and the most market-aware person in an engineering room.
  • Demonstrated daily, hands-on use of agentic AI in real technical work, including building and running agent workflows for research, analysis, and drafting requirements, with the judgment to verify and own everything the agents produce.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with OEM and ODM needs, including reference designs, compliance, and hardware qualification cycles.
  • A background in AI inference systems competitive landscaping and analysis, either at an AI hardware startup or an incumbent AI hardware systems provider.
  • Prior experience defining SKU strategy and product lifecycle for a hardware platform sold into hyperscale or enterprise data center environments.

Leveling & Scope

While this role is currently posted at a specific level, we are a growth-oriented organization and are open to hiring at a more senior level for the right candidate. Please note that this job description serves as a focused but generalized overview of the role; specific responsibilities and impact expectations will be tailored to the experience and seniority of the final hire.

Why Join Us?

  • You will shape the definition of a full inference stack, from a frontier-class ASIC through to rack scale systems, at a company where product planning decisions translate directly into silicon and shipped hardware.
  • You will work on performance per dollar and performance per watt problems that matter to the economics of AI inference, with the autonomy to set direction rather than inherit it.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $200,000 – $350,000.

Please note that the figures provided represent the base salary range only and do not include other elements of our total compensation package, equity, or comprehensive benefits.

At Positron AI, we value the unique expertise each candidate brings. While the range above reflects our typical expectation for the position, we reserve the flexibility to exceed this range for candidates whose specialized skills, significant experience, or unique qualifications fall outside the standard scope of the role. Final offers are determined based on a variety of factors, including internal equity, and individual impact.
