About the Role

This intermediate-level role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across the US, Canada, the UK, Mexico, and other international locations. The primary focus is on managing day-to-day US payroll functions to address current team gaps, with secondary support for international jurisdictions.

This role supports a fast-paced environment, currently navigating two system implementations and significant volume. It offers an exciting opportunity to expand your knowledge base by learning different country payrolls (Canada/Mexico) and gaining exposure to global operations.

What You’ll Do

  • US Payroll Management: Process full-cycle payroll for the US, including tax reconciliations, benefits reconciliation, and managing quarterly/annual filings (W-2s).
  • Compliance & Registration: Manage state tax registration and unemployment accounts across all 50 US states, ensuring the company remains compliant with diverse legislative changes.
  • Process Documentation: Lead a critical 30-day project to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for US payroll where none currently exist.
  • System Administration: Utilize Rippling to manage payroll changes, including salary adjustments, deductions, and terminations.
  • Finance Collaboration: Prepare and balance payroll journal entries and collaborate with the Finance team on general ledgers.
  • Global Support: Provide backup support for Canadian and Mexican payrolls and assist in future global payroll expansions.

Qualifications

  • Direct US Payroll Experience: Proven end-to-end US payroll processing experience is mandatory; candidates without this will not be considered.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Rippling is highly preferred; knowledge of ADP or Ceridian is an asset.
  • Payroll Accounting: Strong understanding of the finance/payroll accounting side of the work, including GLs and journal entries.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage high workload volumes and stay organized during system implementations and organizational changes.
