About the Role

The Traveling Quality Control Specialist ensures welding, fabrication, and mechanical work meets project specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards. This role supports large-scale industrial projects across multiple states and works closely with field teams, Project Managers, customers, and inspectors to maintain quality from installation through turnover.

What You’ll Do

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies
• Verify materials, welding consumables, and compliance with WPS requirements
• Monitor welding and fabrication activities for compliance with AWS, ASME, and project specifications
• Coordinate and support NDT activities, including UT, MT, PT, and RT
• Maintain inspection reports, quality records, NCRs, and turnover documentation
• Witness welder qualification testing and maintain welder continuity records
• Review drawings, specifications, WPS, PQRs, and project quality requirements
• Work with fabrication teams, Project Managers, customers, and inspectors to resolve quality concerns
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote a strong safety culture
• Assist with inspections, turnover, and project closeout

What You'll Bring

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
• 3–5+ years of welding inspection experience in fabrication, structural steel, piping, or mechanical environments
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and ASME B31.1/B31.3
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, WPS, and PQR documentation
• Familiarity with NDT methods preferred
• Strong understanding of quality control processes and documentation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively
