Construction Manager

Mission of the role
The Construction Manager’s mission is to oversee on-site execution of Riley projects, ensuring homes are built safely, efficiently, and to Riley’s standards of quality and sustainability. This role bridges the system-level vision of the Head of Construction with the realities of field operations — coordinating trades, solving problems in real time, and ensuring each project becomes a living example of Naturally Good Living.

What success looks like:

  • All assigned projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and at Riley’s quality standard.
  • Field operations run smoothly, with proactive coordination of trades, inspectors, and site logistics.
  • Issues are identified and resolved before they become delays or cost overruns.
  • Riley’s values — safety, sustainability, craftsmanship, and integrity — are upheld on every site.
  • Head of Construction is freed from daily firefighting and can focus on scaling systems and partnerships.

Why This Role Matters

The Construction Manager is Riley’s front line in the field — the person who ensures our design system becomes reality, without compromise. This role is central to scaling from a handful of builds to hundreds, and to ensuring that Riley Projects become benchmarks of quality and sustainability.

Why This Role Might Not Be for You

If you want predictable routines, prefer managing from behind a desk, or shy away from accountability — this isn’t your role. The Construction Manager thrives in the intensity and ambiguity of field execution, balancing day-to-day leadership with Riley’s high standards.

But if you’re energized by building something new, solving problems in real time, and making sure excellence happens on the ground, then this role is your chance to help shape the future of living.

1-Year Goals

  • Lead on-site execution for 5–10 projects, all delivered within ±5% budget/schedule variance.
  • Build a repeatable site operations playbook (daily logs, quality/safety checklists, milestone reporting).
  • Cultivate strong trade partner relationships where subs want to work with Riley repeatedly.
  • Implement at least 5 process or quality improvements that materially reduce rework or delays.
  • Be recognized internally as the field execution anchor Riley can scale around.
