About the Role

We’re looking for a Payroll Specialist to join Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations team and support payroll operations for our EOR customers across the UK and Ireland.

Our Global Payroll Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of Rippling’s global payroll products, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products. This role sits at the center of Rippling’s global payroll operations, helping scale country-specific expertise and operational excellence across our UK and Ireland EOR business.

The Payroll Specialist will own critical parts of the end-to-end payroll process, including inputs, corrections, off-cycle support, statutory payroll requirements, customer-facing payroll issues, and post-payroll resolution. Success in this role requires strong UK and Irish payroll knowledge and sharp judgment on tax and payroll treatment. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across pay types, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, allowances, pensions, statutory and leave-related payments, tax codes/RPNs, student loans, terminations, and HMRC or Irish Revenue-dependent cases.

This is a highly cross-functional role for someone who combines UK and Irish payroll knowledge, strong customer-service judgment, operational discipline, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

What You Will Do

  • Own key components of EOR payroll processing for the UK and Ireland, including inputs, approvals, corrections, off-cycle payments, statutory payroll outputs, and post-payroll review.
  • Manage payroll calendars, cutoffs, stakeholder readiness, and timelines to ensure accurate, timely payroll delivery across both markets.
  • Resolve complex payroll and tax cases, including overpayments, final pay, redundancy pay, bonuses, reimbursements, tax codes/RPNs, student loans, statutory documents, deductions, pensions, and leave-related pay.
  • Create, review, and validate pay types, earnings, deductions, benefits, allowances, statutory payments, and leave payments with the correct payroll and tax treatment.
  • Advise customers and internal teams on UK and Irish payroll requirements, including PAYE, National Insurance, PRSI, USC, statutory payments, pensions, taxable benefits, reimbursements, and auto-enrolment.
  • Liaise with HMRC, Irish Revenue, and other agencies while reconciling payroll outputs, filings, deductions, pension contributions, and tax/social security amounts.
  • Document SOPs, recurring issues, case-resolution steps, and knowledge articles to improve accuracy, consistency, customer education, and operational scalability.

What You Will Need

  • Strong understanding of UK and Irish payroll and tax compliance, including PAYE, National Insurance, PRSI, USC, HMRC/Revenue processes, statutory documents, deductions, pensions, RPNs, filings, and year-end outputs.
  • 3+ years of experience in a client-facing payroll, payroll operations, or payroll tax role in the UK and/or Ireland; EOR payroll experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience supporting end-to-end payroll operations, including processing, corrections, audits, customer-facing payroll issues, notices, disputes, and HMRC/Revenue communications.
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax treatment across pay types, payroll inputs, earnings, deductions, benefits, reimbursements, allowances, statutory payments, leave-related pay, pensions, and other payroll components, with awareness of jurisdiction-specific tax, pension, and statutory-treatment requirements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and documentation skills, with the ability to manage case queues and explain complex payroll issues clearly.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset, strong attention to detail, and comfort working across operational systems, documentation tools, and case-management platforms; familiarity with Salesforce, JIRA, and Confluence is a plus.
