Something & Nothing | B Corp™

US Production and Supply Chain Manager

Something & Nothing is disrupting the global soda category with a range of award-winning Premium Sodas designed for the modern conscious consumer. Our beverages are available in the US, UK, and Europe, and can be found in the world's best retailers, hotels, cafes and restaurants.

To support our growth in the US we are looking for someone to own our American supply chain end to end: production at our co-packer, our warehouses, our logistics, US materials sourcing, and US compliance. This is the role that makes our US scale-up physically possible. Our co-packer is in Middlebury, Vermont, and you will be on site there for six to eight production runs a year, so roughly once every four to eight weeks. Our Pennsylvania warehouse in Montgomeryville is a less frequent trip. Being based in the Northeast is an advantage, but it isn't a requirement if you can get to Vermont reliably.

Who are you?

You're a hands-on operator who is as comfortable on a production line as you are in a spreadsheet. You've run co-packed production; you know what can go wrong on a run, and you know how to stop it from happening twice.

You thrive in fast-moving environments and enjoy the puzzle of aligning co-packers, suppliers, warehouses and timelines to make things run beautifully. You think in systems but act pragmatically, and you're comfortable owning a region on your own. You reach for AI tools to extend what one person can cover, because a role this broad rewards it.

Job titles aren't what drive you. You're motivated by ownership, impact, and the chance to build a US supply chain rather than inherit one.

Role Responsibilities

Production Management (US)

  • Own the relationship with Green Mountain Beverages, our co-packer in Vermont.
  • Attend all or most US production runs on site. We are currently planning six to eight US runs a year.
  • Build US production schedules from the demand forecast owned by our CFO, to group method and standards.
  • Own yield, waste, run performance and the product quality standards held at our co-packer, and resolve issues as they arise.

Materials Sourcing (US)

  • Source all US non-ingredient materials, buying against the group deals negotiated by our Global Sourcing lead.
  • Own US supplier lead times, MOQs and purchase orders in Unleashed.
  • Own a component readiness view against every US production date and report it at fortnightly S&OP.
  • Feed US labelling and regulatory requirements to our designers and creative co-founder, who own master artwork.

Warehousing (US)

  • Own the relationships with our warehouses in Pennsylvania and California.
  • Own US stock accuracy, conduct regular stock takes, and share a weekly US stock report.
  • Ensure stock is in the right place at the right time for both coasts.

Logistics (US)

  • Own relationships with our US Freight broker and carriers.
  • Own the US OTIF delivery KPI.
  • Review logistics costs and find efficiencies across cost, carbon emissions and customer lead time.
  • Run damages, returns and exceptions monitoring for the US.

Customs and Import

  • Own US customs and import documentation, including inbound chilled ingredients from our UK supplier.

Compliance, Regulatory and Labelling (US)

  • Own US compliance and regulatory processes, including federal labelling requirements, Proposition 65 and state packaging and recycling laws.
  • Own the process that gets each US label version signed off as legally correct before it goes to print, with external specialist support where needed.

Product Quality

  • Execute the product improvement plan in the US and feed US findings into the global plan.

Supply Base Development

  • Joint lead on reviewing our ingredient supplier and building the case for expanding or moving to a global supplier.
  • Assess and, when volume triggers it, appoint a second US co-packer.
  • Assess and, when volume warrants, add US warehousing capacity in other regions.
  • Find cost efficiencies across the US supply base without impacting quality.

Team

  • Help us recruit our US Customer Service colleague, then onboard them alongside the UK team.
  • Support and coach our US Customer Service colleague day to day, together with our UK/EU Customer Service lead.
  • Attend fortnightly S&OP with the co-founder, CFO and UK operations team.

Reporting

  • Own monthly reporting for all US production, warehousing and logistics.
  • Analyse performance to understand reasons for success and failure, and adapt plan for constant improvement.
  • Own the US supply chain budget.

Role Requirements

  • Experience running co-packed or contract manufactured production in food or beverage, including being on site for runs.
  • Experience managing 3PL warehousing and US logistics partners.
  • Experience owning inventory accuracy across more than one warehouse location.
  • Experience in building (and re-building) production schedules in line with demand fluctuations.
  • Working knowledge of US customs and import processes.
  • Familiarity with US food and beverage labelling, Proposition 65 and state packaging law, or the appetite to own it with external specialist support.
  • Comfortable owning a region single-handedly in a business where people hold broad responsibilities.
  • Able to get to Middlebury, Vermont for six to eight production runs a year. Northeast US is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Preferably to be currently or previously employed in a beverage or food company

Organisational Culture

Self-organisation is our central organisational philosophy, it means that we are all accountable to the company rather than to the manager. In fact, you won't even have a manager, you will have full autonomy and authority to ensure you perform your responsibilities. You will be supported, trained and guided by people who are experts in each of the different areas of the business. Your role will be defined by your responsibilities not by a job title. Your responsibilities will clearly link to the vision, purpose and strategic goals of the business.

We strive for the highest standards across all responsibilities we have. We take risks, we are accountable for mistakes and we learn from them. To help everyone improve, we give and receive honest feedback, we see it as a skill that everyone can benefit from.

We build trust through showing care for others, demonstrating our personal values and understanding the values of others, and mastering our roles. Everyone can express their ideas, thoughts and opinions, and we encourage respectful debate and discussion of different views. We aim to take a place of intellectual and situational humility; we’re curious so we ask questions to help us to understand, we take the time to listen to others.

Company Values

We are curious

We accept we don't know it all. We explore, and we're excited to discover. We treat inward-facing curiosity as the spotlight for personal growth.

We act with courage

We challenge the norms. We may fail, we will learn, and we go again.

We embrace change

We adapt constantly, to ourselves and to our environment. We think abundantly (there are always many options) rather than scarcely.

We consume consciously

Everything is finite. We are rigorous about using our resources efficiently.
