Marketing Contractor (non-US)

Species360 is a unique blend of a software company, a non-profit organization, and a global wildlife and plant care and conservation leader. We are the predominant non-profit organization serving zoos, aquariums with animal management needs through our Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS). 

Our members include diverse institutions worldwide that use our software to record data on wildlife. This critical data enables them to provide world-class care for their animals and enables Species360 to develop software and scientific research that supports global conservation.  

This role requires a genuine passion for species conservation, animal care, and the health of the natural world. The ideal candidate will channel their enthusiasm for these critical issues into developing products that align with the Species360 mission and inspire engagement across the global conservation community.

OUR OPPORTUNITY

Species360 is seeking a passionate and creative remote Marketing Contractor to help us share our story, engage our community, and highlight the impact of our members' work. This role will focus on creating compelling content across various platforms to increase awareness, support member engagement, and contribute to our mission of advancing animal welfare and conservation through information sharing. This role entails a commitment of up to 20 hours per week.

Species360, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, operates with a fully remote workforce model. Contractors must meet all applicable criteria to be classified appropriately under the contractor guidelines of their respective country.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Content Creation (Blogs)

  • Research, write, and edit engaging and informative blog posts on topics related to animal conservation, wildlife management, Species360 initiatives, ZIMS, the Species360 Conservation Science Alliance and the Species Conservation Toolkit Initiative (SCTI). 

2.    Member and Customer Success Stories

  •  Develop compelling written and potentially multimedia case studies and success stories showcasing the achievements and impact of Species360 member institutions, SCTI users, and partners. 
  • Conduct interviews, gather data, and craft narratives that resonate with our audience.

3.    Social Media Support

  • Create engaging and timely content for the Species360 social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Write posts, source or create visuals (with support), schedule content, and engage with followers.

4.     Website Support

  • Assist with updates and content management on the Species360 website, including creating and editing web pages and blog posts, updating resources, and ensuring content is accurate and aligned with brand messaging.

5.     Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team, as well as other departments, to ensure content aligns with overall marketing strategies and organizational goals.

6.     Performance Monitoring

  • Track and analyze the performance of content to identify areas for improvement and optimize future content strategies.

7.     Stay Informed 

  • Keep abreast of industry trends in marketing, conservation, and the zoo and aquarium community.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in a marketing or communications role, with a strong emphasis on content creation.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms. 
  • Experience managing social media platforms for organizations, with a focus on engagement and growth.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (experience with WordPress is a plus).
  • A passion for wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and the mission of Species360.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a part-time capacity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a remote team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Environmental Science, Zoology, or a related field is preferred.

COMPENSATION 

Contractor rates will be commensurate with the candidate’s skills, experience, and country location. Benefits will depend on the requirement of the residing country.
