About the role

  • Stansell Electric is seeking an experienced Signal Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal systems and related equipment. This role leads field crews, ensures safe and efficient project execution, and supports the operation of critical transportation infrastructure. The position may require travel, overtime, and work in various weather and jobsite conditions.

What you'll do

  • Lead and supervise a crew of up to four employees, including technicians, electricians, apprentices, and skilled laborers.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal systems, controllers, detectors, relays, and related equipment.
  • Perform testing, diagnostics, and emergency repairs to restore system functionality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, one-line diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Operate bucket trucks, aerial lifts, construction equipment, and trade-related tools.
  • Plan work activities, identify required materials, and complete project documentation accurately.
  • Train and mentor team members on safe work practices, electrical principles, and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, customers, and other trades to ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • IMSA Level 2 Certification (or higher) and ability to maintain certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days of hire.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting traffic signal systems and related equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, blueprint reading, and industry safety practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate aerial lifts and bucket trucks.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and safely operate tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
