Account Manager (A&D Trade/Luxury Carpet Sales Professional)

Position Overview

STARK is seeking an experienced Luxury Carpet Sales Professional with a proven track record selling to the trades (Interior Designers, Architectural Firms) to serve as an Account Manager for our showroom in Philadelphia, PA.

The ideal candidate brings strong business development instincts and a polished, client-first approach to representing STARK's luxury carpet and rug collection. You will build and own your book of business, backed by STARK's sales leadership and industry reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship & Business Development:

  • Identify potential clients and create strategic, client-centric marketing plans, including but not limited to such matters as who to visit, when, and how often, using CRM data to prioritize the highest-potential accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with interior design, architecture, and A&D trade clientele within an assigned territory.
  • Prospect new clients through networking, referrals, and digital outreach, using messaging developed on a client-by-client basis.

Sales Strategy & Product Presentation:

  • Advise clients on product attributes and qualities as related to their needs, through networking, observing and analyzing market trends, and using personal judgment.
  • Prepare sales documents in order to initiate and close sales.
  • Collaborate on the creation of layouts for installation from the design perspective.

Events & Market Presence:

  • Develop event strategy, lead and organize events for your specific clients, with full discretion over budgets and invitees.
  • Represent STARK professionally at industry events, trade shows, and client engagements.
  • Collaborate on the creation and development of STARK's "core message" to clients.

Client Reporting & Collaboration:

  • Create pre- and post-visit client reports, assess purchasing potential of client, and deliver analysis to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of client interactions, pipeline, and account activity.
  • Partner with the Showroom Manager and showroom team to support seamless order fulfillment and client service.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Interior Design or a related field, plus a minimum of two years of trade sales experience; five or more years of trade sales experience, or demonstrated expertise in interior design, rugs, or flooring, may substitute. Strong relationships with interior design clientele required; local A&D trade relationships preferred.

Technical & Digital Skills:

  • Comfortable with CRM systems (such as HubSpot or Salesforce) and AI-driven sales tools
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel for daily communication, scheduling, and reporting.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Pleasant, professional, self-driven, and entrepreneurial, with strong interpersonal, communication, and multi-tasking skills suited to a luxury client-facing environment, and the ability to build and manage a client base.
  • Acceptable score on Sales Assessment required; role may occasionally require local travel for client visits and events.

Additional Expectations:

  • Peripheral experience in the design industry is a plus.
  • Comfortable working with both trade and retail clients, in the showroom and for outside presentations.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining client relationships, with a full-service approach to the client experience.
  • Proficient in networking and cold calling to build a book of accounts.
  • Able to collaborate creatively with designers on product and installation.
  • Works effectively in a team-oriented environment.
