Today, Stellar Virtual spans across three states currently, Arizona, Indiana, and Texas, with developing programs being introduced in new states over the next few years. Overview
Stellar Virtual seeks a passionate and certified Secondary History Teacher to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective history instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of historical concepts, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive and supportive online learning environment. Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, assessment, individualized support, and collaboration to ensure student success.

Essential Duties

  • One Number: 80% Student Participation
  • Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Tennessee State Standards for Social Studies (History focus) for grades 6-12.
  • Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, research tasks, and discussions.
  • Provide clear and timely feedback on student work to promote understanding and historical thinking skills.
  • Facilitate small group instruction and provide individualized support to students as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Implement the Stellar Virtual history curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and historical understanding.
  • Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the history curriculum.
  • Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
  • Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
  • Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.


Knowledge, Skills & Attributes 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
  • Experience teaching a range of secondary history courses (e.g., World History, US History, Civics, Geography).
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
  • Passion for working with students and fostering their understanding and appreciation of history.
  • Residency in the state of Tennessee is required.


Education & Certification Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in History, History Education, Social Studies Education (with a strong history focus), or a related field.
  • A valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in Secondary Social Studies (grades 6-12) or equivalent, with a demonstrated strength or focus in History.
