Position Overview

The Secondary Teacher of Science is a critical role designed to provide high-quality instruction to students in grades 7–12 in a fully virtual setting. This position requires a passionate, innovative educator with strong subject matter expertise who is dedicated to creating engaging online learning experiences and fostering student growth.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous and standards-aligned virtual science lessons using engaging instructional strategies.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including those of advanced learners, English learners, and students with disabilities.
  • Utilize digital tools and resources to enhance student engagement and content mastery.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Arizona state standards and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Design formative and summative assessments to measure student learning outcomes effectively.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends, track progress, and inform instructional decisions.
  • Maintain regular communication with students to support academic achievement, social-emotional development, and engagement.
  • Provide individualized feedback to students on assignments, assessments, and projects.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive online learning environment.
  • Actively participate in virtual professional learning communities and team meetings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, refine instructional strategies, and solve challenges.
  • Attend professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in virtual education.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and virtual teaching protocols.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share progress updates and address concerns.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Demonstrated experience teaching business, technology, or related subjects, preferably in a virtual or hybrid environment.
  • Familiarity with Arizona state standards for business and technology education.
  • Proficiency in virtual teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, or similar).
  • Competence with business software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, accounting software) and emerging technologies.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a student-centered, inclusive learning environment.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field.
  • Valid Arizona teaching certification in Secondary Science (grades 7–12).
