Camera Installations Manager

Surfline operates one of the world's largest coastal camera networks, delivering real-time surf intelligence to millions of users daily. As Camera Installations Manager for the Southeast US, you will own the growth and reliability of our camera and weather station infrastructure across one of the fastest-expanding regions in our network.

The Southeast is a demanding place to run coastal infrastructure. Heat, humidity and salt air work against every piece of hardware we deploy, summer storms and lightning take sites offline without warning, and hurricane season can put an entire coastline out at once. Installation quality and speed of recovery directly determine uptime and the experience of every surfer checking their local break.

This role is weighted toward expansion. Your primary measure is new cameras delivered and live, and the biggest lever you have is other people: you will build and direct the contractor network that carries out the physical work, stepping into the field yourself for the complex, high-priority or time-sensitive jobs. Alongside that you will own the reliability of your region, which matters most between June and November.

Under Surfline's "Work from Anywhere" policy, this role can be based anywhere on the Florida coast, ideally within reach of Central Florida, with travel required from time to time.

What You’ll Do

  • Own regional expansion performance: new camera installations delivered, live and generating value, consistently month to month rather than in bursts
  • Build, grow and direct a contractor network across the Southeast, from sourcing and vetting through onboarding, briefing and quality control
  • Provide technical direction and quality control across all installation and maintenance work, ensuring strong execution without rework
  • Scope sites properly before anyone travels: power, connectivity options, mounting, line of sight, host access and permissions
  • Prepare and configure hardware ahead of every install, including cameras, routers, edge devices and off-grid solar where a site has no mains power
  • Step into the field yourself for complex, high-priority or time-sensitive installations and repairs, demonstrating your expertise throughout
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for camera and weather station systems in your region
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across networking, ISP connectivity, power systems and line-of-sight challenges
  • Support remote diagnostics and respond to service issues with urgency to minimise downtime
  • Lead hurricane season readiness and recovery across the region: preparation, damage assessment and getting cameras back online quickly
  • Own the accuracy of the data captured at the point of install, including serial numbers, location and elevation, connectivity details, access credentials and photographs. What is recorded at install is what the whole company relies on afterwards
  • Maintain clear, accurate and thorough documentation across all Cam Ops systems
  • Manage the regional cleaning schedule and meet our cleanliness standard
  • Act as the day to day relationship for camera hosts in your region, and treat those relationships as long-term assets
  • Support our acquisition team with site feasibility assessments, so we know what is deliverable before we commit to it
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve camera-related issues and improve overall system performance
  • Collaborate with Camera Operations peers globally to meet and exceed regional goals
  • Bring improvements back to the tools you work in. Requests from the people doing the work get built, and we expect you to make them

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience coordinating or overseeing physical work delivered by third parties to schedule and to standard. This is the core of the role
  • 4+ years of relevant technical field experience with IP cameras, networking, ISP troubleshooting or similar infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals, line of sight and remote diagnostics
  • Confident scoping sites, including power and connectivity options across fixed line, cellular and satellite
  • Highly organized with strong operational discipline, particularly in record keeping
  • Clear communicator who can represent Surfline standards in the field and with hosts
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel across the region
  • Self-starter who thrives both independently and within a distributed global team

You May Also Have

  • Experience installing and terminating Cat5/6 structured cabling to industry standards (BICSI a plus)
  • Experience installing and maintaining off-grid solar systems (NABCEP or similar a plus)
  • Experience working through hurricane season on coastal infrastructure
  • Experience with IP camera platforms such as Axis, UNV or Dahua, and related software
  • A habit of automating your own repetitive work, and curiosity about how AI tooling can help
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Passion for ocean-based activities and an instinct for what makes a great camera experience
