Position Overview

Title of Position:  Staff DevOps Engineer

Organizational Relationship: Reports to Walter Anthony

Managerial Responsibilities: None

Job Family: Engineering

Classification:  Exempt/Full-Time

Location: Remote

Remote Work Eligibility: This position is fully remote and there is a strong preference for employees residing in Utah, Indiana, Georgia, or Tennessee.




General Summary

A technical leader, influencing the strategic direction of the DevOps team. Designs and implements innovative solutions for complex application landscapes, focusing on high availability and disaster recovery. Collaborates with cross-functional leaders, driving organizational change, and participating in hiring efforts.




Duties & Responsibilities

• Automate the build, deployment, and management of applications and infrastructure
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support application deployment and infrastructure needs
• Design and implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
• Debug and troubleshoot production issues
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and recommend upgrades and improvements to the IT infrastructure
• Document system designs, processes, and best practices
• Ensure the reliability and performance of systems and services.
• Mentor and guide junior DevOps Engineers in best practices
• Create high level architectural designs and proof of concept implementations
• Maintain compliance with the knowledge requirements outlined on the department intranet site
• Leverage AI tooling to accelerate devops activities (e.g., deployments, code generation, testing, documentation)


Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support business and organizational objectives.




Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience

• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a related position

• Master level knowledge of AI-enhanced devops tools (e.g.,  Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, GitLab Duo, New Relic AI)

• Expert level understanding of distributed systems, networks, and operating systems
• Expert level proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or C#
• Expert level knowledge of cloud computing, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Expert level familiarity with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Expert level understanding of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Expert level problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
• Advanced level ability to work effectively in a team environment.
