Accounting Manager

Position Summary:

We're looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager to own the day-to-day accounting engine at Walden Robotics as we scale, complete our first audit, and leverage accounting to inform our business decisions. You'll run the monthly close, enhance our order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes, and work through complex accounting questions for a cutting-edge business model. This is a build-it-yourself role — you'll stand up scalable processes now and grow into managing a small accounting team as we add headcount.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting.
  • Own equity, inventory, and allocation journal entries; including developing the cross-functional systems needed to adequately track the inputs for these accounting areas.
  • Manage an outsourced accounting team, and develop your direct reports as we add internal headcount.
  • Own the order-to-cash cycle, including customer billing and collections.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure proper expense coding and classification is completed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external audit and tax preparation.
  • Lead monthly flux analysis and KPI/metrics reporting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with some combination of public and private accounting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to own complex, cross-functional accounting projects end-to-end
  • Track record of mentoring others and raising the quality bar
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition, inventory and equity accounting
  • Experience managing external audit and tax relationships
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA license
  • Experience in an early-stage or venture-backed startup environment
  • Experience with modern finance tooling such as Ramp, Digits, Carta
  • Experience building AI/agent-assisted processes
  • Robotics, hardware, or manufacturing industry experience
