Job Summary
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely receipt, inspection, documentation, and system entry of all incoming materials to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with company procedures for traceability, quality, and inventory accuracy. The Receiving Clerk works closely with Purchasing, Quality, Stockroom, and Production teams to maintain efficient material flow and proper handling of all received goods.
Essential Duties
• Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a “Safety First” mentality
• Receive incoming materials in accordance with established procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Perform 3-way match verification (packing slip, purchase order, and physical product)
• Inspect incoming shipments for damage and ensure proper documentation and communication when discrepancies are identified
• Accurately receive materials in Epicor Kinetic using handheld devices or desktop systems
• Ensure all materials are received into the correct warehouse and bin locations, including QC or Receiving Hold when required
• Label all received materials with internal part numbers, barcodes, and required identification information
• Maintain proper documentation including scanning and uploading packing slips into the ERP system
• Manage and maintain the Receiving Hold area, including tagging, logging, and communication with Purchasing and Quality
• Coordinate with Quality for items requiring inspection and ensure proper staging and identification
• Support handling and prioritization of urgent/open parts to prevent production delays
• Assist with staging and internal transfers of material between facilities (DC and WH1)
• Maintain clean, organized, and efficient receiving and dock areas
• Follow all company procedures related to traceability, chain of custody, and inventory control
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Basic knowledge of receiving, inventory control, and material handling in a manufacturing environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Forklift experience a plus
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Epicor experience preferred)
• Understanding of packing slips, purchase orders, and material identification processes
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and traceability
• Ability to identify discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately
• Good organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication skills for coordination with cross-functional teams (Purchasing, Quality, Production, Stockroom)
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and work instructions with consistency
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with scanners, labeling systems, and office equipment
Required / Preferred Education & Experience
Required:
• High school diploma or GED
• 1–3 years of experience in receiving, warehouse, or material handling roles (manufacturing environment preferred)
• Experience with basic data entry and inventory systems
Preferred:
• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting (Epicor Kinetic preferred)
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
• Familiarity with quality-controlled or ISO-regulated environments

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position operates in an active manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Use of standard office equipment is necessary, and the employee may need to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

The pay range for this role is:
24 - 27 USD per hour (ESS Metron - DC Warehouse)
