JOB SUMMARY
Our Quality Team is responsible for the inspecting and testing of ESS Metron's custom electrical equipment prior to shipping to customer site. QC Test Technicians play a critical role in identifying production and assembly defects and assisting in correcting errors in real time to deliver world-class products.


As a Quality Test Tech you will:  

• Have experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics to verify equipment can be built to specification and identify any potential design issues that should be addressed prior to initial production of projects. 
• Have experience conduct final audits of all quality inspection reporting and critical control point verification o documentation for multiple projects. 
• Have experience receiving initial reports of warranty work and beginning the process of collecting production records to evaluate potential warranty liability from the manufacturing processes of equipment. 
• Have experience working on customer sites: participating in investigations of equipment failures and documenting any findings. 
• Have experience conducting final inspections and placing UL labels upon success.


QC Test Technician I

The Quality Test Technician I is responsible for auditing and inspecting assembled electrical equipment to ensure that it is assembled correctly and works as designed and meets ESS Metron standards and specifications before being shipped to customer sites. Conducting routine inspections and audits of assembled electrical equipment the Quality Test Technician I will verify that all equipment meets specification and document any visual defects or damage to electrical assemblies.  The Quality Test Technician I will be responsible for ensuring that all wiring meets quality standards and test continuity of wiring to ensure equipment is ready for higher function testing.  The Quality Test Technician I will also learn the critical control points, inspections of the product, and higher-level electrical testing in preparation for advancement into a Quality Test Technician II role.

Essential Duties

·         Perform all duties in a safe manner and promotes “Safety First” mentality across team

·         Perform wiring connection inspection to ensure wiring is properly connected and meets standard for arc flash installation

·         Check wiring for continuity and verify proper connection from point to point per wiring diagram

·         Conduct electrical-related inspections and documents results of inspections for warranties

·         Document nonconformance or damage identified during inspections on quality logs

·         Create nonconformance reports in system and participate in analysis of reason for nonconformance

·         Perform ship lose inventory in preparation for shipping products to customers

·         Assist with preparation for higher functional testing and learn process of this testing

·         Work with Quality Test Technician II on learning the full inspection and documentation process for finished equipment inspection

Required / Preferred Education & Experience

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         At least 2 years in related electrical equipment manufacturing experience


QC Test Technician II

The Quality Test Technician II is responsible for auditing and inspecting assembled electrical equipment to ensure that it is assembled correctly and works as designed and meets ESS Metron standards and specifications before being shipped to customer sites.  Conducting routine inspections and audits of assembled electrical equipment, the Quality Test Technician II will verify that all assembled equipment function as designed by performing functional resting on equipment and documenting any failures or defects.  The Quality Test Technician II will be responsible for preparing the required paperwork and storing documentation of test results prior to shipping products to customer sites.  The Quality Test Technician II will also ensure the quality program follows the critical control points verification process, inspect tested equipment for potential damage or failure and act as a resource for Quality Test Technician III in equipment failure on customer site providing appropriate documentation to analyze cause of failure.

Essential Duties

·         Perform all duties in a safe manner and promotes “Safety First” mentality across team

·         Prepare equipment for hipot and functional testing following SOPs to ensure no damage is done during testing phase

·         Set up safety exclusion zone prior to testing

·         Perform hipot testing on energized equipment to verify that equipment is ready for shipment.

·         Perform functional testing on equipment to ensure equipment like PLCs and other control modules work per design and specification

·         Perform voltage testing on equipment

·         Inspect equipment for damage or abnormal wear and document findings following testing

·         Create nonconformance reports and initiate analysis of failures

·         Conduct a total mechanical and electrical inspection of a project and document inspection results per quality management system for record keeping purposes

·         Verify equipment is properly spaced per code and design

·         Work with Quality Test Technician III on warranty analysis from documented testing on product during manufacturing 

Required / Preferred Education & Experience

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Some Undergraduate coursework completed in Engineering or related field preferred

·         2 to 4 years in electrical equipment testing in related field


QC Test Technician III

The Quality Test Technician III is responsible for working with internal teams, customers, and vendors on resolving deficiencies during production and warranty evaluations after equipment failure and deficiencies in the field to ensure a satisfactory outcome for all parties on equipment or parts malfunctions. Quality Test Technicians III receive initial warranty claim information and are responsible for researching and working with our internal Quality documents that were produced during manufacturing to identify potential issues that might present liability for ESS Metron on warranty work. The Quality Test Technician III will receive additional documentation from clients, field service teams, or parts vendors and work to evaluate what the failure point was in the equipment. Quality Inspector III act as the subject matter expert on electrical testing and expert in ensuring all documentation is properly retained and completed for warranty issues.

Essential Duties

·         Perform all duties in a safe manner and promotes “Safety First” mentality across team

·         Track progress of production quality critical control points and ensures Quality checks are scheduled to minimize production downtime

·         Inspect engineering drawings to verify equipment can be built to specification and identify any potential design issues that should be addressed prior to production

·         Work with Quality Team to help resolve deficiencies identified during testing phases of equipment

·         Work with vendors to resolve identified deficiencies during initial quality inspection of received parts

·         Conduct final inspection and places UL Label upon successful completion of inspection

·         Conduct final audit of all quality inspection reporting and critical control point verification documentation for projects

·         Travel to customer site to participate in investigation of equipment failures and documents findings

·         Receive initial report of warranty work and begins the process of collecting production records to evaluate potential warranty liability from the manufacturing process of equipment

Required / Preferred Education & Experience

·         Associate’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred

·         At least 6 years of electrical equipment testing experience


A successful candidate for this role will: 

• Have advanced experience with Excel, Word, and Quality Management software to document quality readings and issues. 
• Have the ability to upload and retrieve appropriate documents from shared drives and other storage retention locations. 

The pay range for this role is:

28 - 35 USD per hour (ESS Metron - Denver, CO)
