Job Summary:
Estes Energetics is seeking a NDT Level 2 X-Ray Technician to perform radiographic inspections of components critical to aerospace and defense applications. This role requires technical expertise in non-destructive testing, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position will initially be based in Penrose, CO, and will transition to our location in Pueblo, CO.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct radiographic inspections using X-ray technology to assess solid propellant grains for defects and imperfections.
- Evaluate images and interpret test results in accordance with engineering specifications, blueprints, and process instructions.
- Document findings accurately and maintain historical records for quality assurance.
- Perform daily equipment setup, calibration, and quality checks to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct radiation safety surveys and complete required annual radiation safety training.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production teams to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Level 2 certification in radiography per National Aerospace Standard NAS410 Rev 5
- Previous Experience: A candidate’s experience with a previous employer may be accepted by Estes Energetics provided it is documented and available for review
- Minimum of 80 hours of formal classroom education in radiography.
- At least 800 hours of hands-on radiography experience.
- Ability to independently set up, calibrate, conduct tests, evaluate results, and document findings without supervision.
- Comprehensive knowledge of radiographic imaging techniques, including their scope and limitations.
- Successful completion of written general, specific, and practical examinations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level 2 certification in Digital Radiography, meeting industry standards.
- Minimum of 40 hours of digital radiography classroom training and 200 hours of digital radiographic testing experience.
- Experience performing digital radiographic inspections of solid propellants or rubber components.
- Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environments.
- Fluorescent Penetrant certification or experience meeting NAS 410 Level 2 requirements.
- At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
