We design, build, and deliver practical, reliable solutions to empower the next generation of warfighters and explorers to meet the demands of their missions. Exploration Technology Group is a technology hardware startup founded in 2024 by a team of techno-optimists, motivated by the challenge of solving tough engineering problems, committed to creating sustainable change, and driven by a curiosity to explore and understand both our world and the universe. For decades, the tools and technologies developed for spaceflight, defense, and exploration have not only helped us expand our understanding of the universe but have also supported human advancement here on Earth. We carry this legacy forward, knowing that innovation in these areas can lead to solutions that help people everywhere.
At ETG, we are actively developing cutting-edge exploration and defense missions. If you join the team, you will have the opportunity to work on hardware and software for US Department of Defense missions, NASA programs, and much more.
About the role
- We are seeking a proactive, highly organized, and "scrappy" Office Manager to serve as the backbone of our San Francisco headquarters. As an early-stage hardware startup, our environment is fast-paced and physical. You will be responsible for ensuring our workspace is optimized for high-level engineering, our logistics are seamless, and our team culture thrives.
What you'll do
- Operations & Facilities: Oversee daily office operations, including mail/shipping logistics (crucial for hardware components), inventory of office and kitchen supplies, and maintaining a high-functioning workspace.
- Procurement Support: Assist engineering teams with the purchasing and tracking of specialized hardware, tools, and materials.
- Vendor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for building management, cleaning services, IT support, and catering.
- Culture & People: Coordinate team-building events, offsites, and holiday celebrations. Assist with the onboarding process for new hires to ensure a world-class "Day 1" experience.
- Executive Support: Provide light administrative support to the leadership team, including calendar management and travel coordination for mission-critical meetings.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the office and lab environments meet safety standards and help maintain organization in shared technical spaces.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in office management, operations, or an administrative role (experience in a startup or hardware/engineering environment is a major plus).
- Organization: Exceptional project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills; you will be the "face" of the office for both employees and external partners.
- Problem-Solving: A "no task too small" mentality and the ability to troubleshoot facility or logistical issues independently.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with modern office software, including Slack and project management tools (e.g., Notion).
