Position Overview:


Eurasia Group is seeking an experienced and motivated analyst of Egypt and North Africa politics and political economy. In this position, you will lead coverage of Egypt and North Africa for Eurasia Group's financial, corporate, and government clients. This will include domestic politics, economic trends, sectoral developments, and foreign policy issues of Egypt, Morocco, Libya and Tunisia. You will conduct in-depth research on current developments as well as likely future trends. An essential part of this role is to maintain and leverage a network of contacts in the region from the policymaking, think tank, and academic sectors.


Location: This role will be based in Egypt or GCC region.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead coverage of Egypt's political, economic, and sectoral developments for Eurasia Group’s clients, including analysis of IMF programs and sovereign debt.
  • Regular reporting and analysis of political and economic developments, tracking and commenting on key political, policy, and economic trends.
  • Frequent preparation of briefs, speaking notes, and background materials to support client-facing presentations.
  • Provide strategic advice and thought leadership, engaging with clients on topics such as elections, political risks, and sovereign debt issues.
  • Support for the MENA Research team, including project management and maintaining client relationships through regular briefings and contact.
  • Collaborate on research initiatives with other analysts and strategic teams within Eurasia Group.

 

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree (Master’s preferred) in political science, international relations, or other relevant disciplines.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience working on Egypt and North African politics and political economy.
  • Proven consulting experience (20%) and research experience (80%).
  • Arabic language skills are essential; excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrable expertise and a network of contacts in Egypt and North Africa, especially in policymaking and academic sectors.
  • An in-depth understanding of the political economy, fiscal policy dynamics, investment climate, and industrial and energy sectors in Egypt and North Africa (Morocco, Libya, and Tunisia).
