EUV Tech is looking for a talented R&D Systems Engineer to join our team developing EUV metrology solutions.
The R&D Systems Engineer will be primarily responsible for leading the effort to create new applications of metrology and metrology tools as well as enhance existing metrology solutions. We are seeking a self-driven individual who is an experienced engineer with a multi-disciplinary skill set including system architecture definition and error budget analysis across multiple disciplines.

About the Role
The Systems Engineer will work with a team of engineers and scientists to develop the next generation of EUV metrology solutions. This position will be responsible for conducting research projects to quantify and improve hardware and software performance for EUV metrology systems, with an emphasis on breaking down a complex system by understanding the signal and noise contribution of each subsystem including light sources, optics, detectors, electronics, mechanics/mechatronics, and controls as well as the interplay between these subsystems and the ultimate metrology system performance.
Reporting Line
This positions reports to the Director, Systems Engineering.
Your Role
- Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the build cycle of new proof of concept EUV metrology tools
- Responsible for specification and requirement definitions for new EUV metrology tools
- Able to independently study and analyze the error budget of a system including, for example, optical tolerances, electrical noise sources, digitization bit budget, etc
- Able to independently determine requirements for data quality, calibration, and alignment to optimize performance of complicated metrology tasks
- Able to independently identify and explore the implications of potential improvements to hardware, software, calibration, and alignment of EUV metrology systems
- Responsible for identifying and developing methods to reliably quantify the performance of EUV metrology systems including leveraging existing hardware and identifying new hardware and software needs as they arise
- Accountable for updated status across multiple projects
- Interface with multiple teams to integrate R&D efforts into new and existing products
- Generation of procedural documentation and interacting with technical writing staff
- Identify and develop content for patent applications
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Required)
- PhD in Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- System architecture, specifications and requirements definition
- Ability to engage a cross-functional team towards a desired outcome
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with highly technical peers
- Ability to organize and plan use of time and people effectively and efficiently
- High level of manual dexterity to adeptly type and use computer equipment
- Have the capability to manage workload among changing priorities and thrive in a dynamic startup environment
- Have the ability to multi-task within a single or across multiple projects simultaneously
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Qualifications (Bonus to Have)
- Extensive knowledge of EUV lithography industry and overall challenges
- Extensive knowledge of physics, optics, and control systems to understand and develop EUV metrology systems
Position Details
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $135,000-$160,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and EUV Tech's location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the respective role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the following factors: job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
