MARKETING, COMMUNICATION, AND EVENTS SUPERVISOR

NATURE OF WORK:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Marketing & Communication & Events Supervisor is responsible for developing, overseeing and implementing the District’s marketing and communications plan aimed at maximizing community awareness about the Evergreen Park and Recreation District, and carrying out the District’s mission, goals and objectives. This includes developing, creating, and implementing materials, website, social media, advertising, and communications, both internally and externally. This position will work with various departments to promote and increase revenue throughout the District through events and programs. Responsible for branding, positioning strategies, public relations, and special project support. The position is considered an exempt position with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy for the strategy development and means of methods to achieve final production of the essential job duties.
Strategic Department Leadership
• Develop and execute annual strategic marketing and communications plans aligned with district goals.
• Lead brand management to ensure consistency in messaging, design, and positioning across the organization.
• Oversee cohesive internal and external communications with a unified tone and visual identity.
• Design and manage comprehensive, multi-channel campaigns supporting ongoing and new initiatives
• Direct digital strategy, including web, social media, e-newsletters, and content development.
• Ensure timely, cost-effective advertising and cross-team coordination.
• Plan and support events, initiatives, and local marketing efforts, including performance metrics.
• Identify and resolve process gaps; recommend improvements to enhance effectiveness.
• Establish and maintain marketing-related policies and procedures.
• Lead hiring, training, and performance management for marketing and events staff.
• Supervise and mentor departmental personnel, including the Events Coordinator and seasonal team members.
Marketing & Event Coordination
• Design and produce promotional materials and publications from concept to final production, including layout, proofing, and vendor coordination.
• Lead planning and execution of EPRD events, managing logistics such as scheduling, permits, contracts, staffing, and volunteers.
• Maintain organized storage of marketing materials and event equipment.
• Manage and optimize public-facing and internal websites, including content creation, performance tracking, and usability enhancements.
• Oversee content development across platforms: social media, photo/video, and community updates.
• Develop and distribute email campaigns, newsletters, and e-blasts.
• Support revenue generation through sponsorships, event promotions, and advertising opportunities.
• Represent EPRD at community events to promote programs, parks, and facilities.
• Write and place promotional articles to boost community engagement.
Public Communications Oversight
• Lead editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all District materials.
• Oversee sponsorship strategy and cultivate long-term partnerships with community stakeholders.
• Serve as department spokesperson and media liaison.
• Manage department budget and assess ROI on marketing and event initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director on public information and community relations, ensuring timely, accurate communication
• Lead proactive and crisis communications to protect and elevate the District’s reputation.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors, community leaders, and businesses to support communications and partnership growth.
Cross-Department Promotion
• Collaborate with internal teams to promote programs and services across the District.
• Develop targeted campaigns to support customer retention and acquisition.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure aligned messaging and marketing strategies.
• Analyze market trends and competitor strategies to improve visibility and community perception.
• Train staff on marketing material use and consistent registration practices through Activenet.
• Foster strong cross-departmental relationships to streamline campaign execution.
• Ensure timely and accurate distribution of marketing information across all EPRD entities.

REQUIRED TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Events, Communication, or related field; or equivalent experience
· Minimum 3 years of marketing experience (public sector or parks/recreation preferred)
· Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, and performance management
· Experience with marketing tools and platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact, Hootsuite, etc.
· Event planning and sponsorship development experience
