Transportation Specialist

Status: | Termed Full-Time, Hourly, July 1st 2025- June 30th, 2026, with the possibility to extend based on funding. Included all District benefits with health insurance. |
Wage: | $20-$28 per hour |
NATURE OF WORK:
Under the direction of the Senior Services Coordinator, the Transportation Specialist is responsible for transporting, scheduling, coordinating seniors and active adults pick up within the Evergreen Community to engage in programming and activities. The Transportation Specialist is responsible for transportation of EPRD participants using District-owned vehicles and may be required to transport meals or other items as needed. They are responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the fleet vehicles. Some participant care including transfers, wheelchair mobility may be required as well as acting as escort for appointments when appropriate. This Specialist will be key in implementing the District’s active adult and senior services facilities and programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents’ families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors and regulators)
· Successfully meets all requirements of the Transportation Driver position, including Driver Record report, and meets and completes ongoing training and driver requirements.
· Transports community residents to and from Recreation centers, events, activities, and shopping using the District-owned vans.
· Accept and make phone calls and emails to coordinate efficient transportation schedules to pick transport as many seniors and active adults each day as possible.
· Create the transportation schedule daily and makes sure all scheduled appointments can be met.
· Create a scheduling platform and process for taking all appointments.
· Encourages residents to schedule at least 24 hours in advance of any needed appointment.
· Reminds users of driving appointments, activities to be scheduled on designated days whenever possible.
· Is flexible for unscheduled transportation needs in the community and available for events.
· Revises schedule accordingly in order to stay with and assist residents who are unable to access the community and appointments independently.
· Completes routine periodic vehicle inspection checks, and informs Operation Director of any maintenance problems or safety issues that need to be addressed.
· Utilize and solicit donations of funds, services and goods to help meet needs.
· Collect, maintain, and report data to support and monitor program accomplishments, partnership agreements, and evaluate the effectiveness of service.
· Responsible for the success of these programs by evaluating and improving accordingly.
· Responsible for the opening and/or closing of the Senior Center (Bristlecone Lounge) as assigned.
· Participate in maintaining the cleanliness, safety and security of the Center, as assigned.
· Organize, manage, and/or support events, activities, initiatives, local store marketing, and campaigns. This includes developing evaluation methods and analytical tools to gauge the success and effectiveness of each initiative.
· All other duties that are assigned.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
· Help generate revenue through sponsorships, Events, and advertisements.
· Maintain consistent relationships between all EPRD entities, ensuring accurate marketing information is distributed on a regular basis.
· Attend community events such as Evergreen Lake Concerts or senior events to help promote EPRD parks, facilities, activities, and programs.
· Prepare articles to be placed to promote and benefit EPRD in the community.
· Support and lead arts, crafts, music, drama, educational, and exercise activities.
· Hire, train, and supervise volunteers.
· As the Transportation Coordinator, you’ll be the transportation mastermind behind our vibrant activity program. Your mission is to create exciting and meaningful experiences that cater to the interests and needs of our community.
· Ability to use Specialized equipment related to assigned programs like ADA van lifts, aquatic lifts, and specialized fitness equipment.
· Documentation: Keep detailed and engaging records of all activities and users responses.
· All documentation must be completed to the DRCOG standards. Must get trained to complete all required paperwork.
· Work with Marketing to assist with planning marketing events to promote the community.
· Participate with the Administrator (Executive Director) in developing a budget for the department.
· Foster family and community support of the activity program (e.g., through newsletters, networking, and activities that bring family members or community members into the facility, etc.).
· Coordinate the transportation of residents to and from events outside of the community, which will include driving a District vehicle.
· Schedule and monitors all assigned facilities used for purposes of assigned programming rented, owned, or leased by the District for Senior and active adult programming.
SKILLS
· Ensures internal and external programs and offerings are of highest quality and properly taught by experienced, and qualified instructors. Ensures programs are safe, effective, and age-appropriate.

· Activity Planning: Dream up and organize a variety of fun activities, from group outings to in-room entertainment for our bed-bound residents.
· Transportation Coordination: Operate and coordinate the schedules to ensure they never miss out on the fun.
REQUIRED TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Preferred Two years of experience working with Senior population programs.
· Must operate a District vehicle
· Must obtain CDL drivers license within several months of hiring.
· Must have valid CPR and first aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
· Must get trained in DRCOG paperwork management to be compliant in all required paperwork.
· 1+ years of experience driving a passenger vehicle, required
· Experience driving passengers, highly preferred
· Experience working in scheduling databases, preferred
· Experience working with the frail or elderly population, preferred
· Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), preferred
· Must be eligible to drive and pass an MVR records check and pass criminal background check.
· Must be capable of maintaining regular, reliable attendance.
· Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the general public.
· Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Must have compassion for and desire to work with seniors.
