Overview

Build intelligent finance systems. Automate insight. Power smarter decisions.

We’re looking for a hands-on Data Engineer / Financial Technologist to work at the intersection of Finance, BI, and Engineering. You’ll build and maintain data pipelines for SaaS metrics, automate core finance processes using Python, APIs, and AI-powered tools, and own our Planful platform to ensure reliable forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.

If you’re comfortable moving between finance data and code, enjoy improving systems through automation, and want to make a measurable impact in a fast-growing SaaS business, this role gives you the ownership and space to do exactly that.

What You'll Do

  • Take ownership of Planful post-implementation, ensuring the system is fully functional, stable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Work with FP&A to optimise Planful models, dimensions, and reporting templates, improving usability and adoption across Finance.
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines feeding the central data warehouse.
  • Integrate data from ERP (Xero/NetSuite/Intacct), CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot), billing, FP&A tools (Planful) and banking platforms.
  • Develop and maintain Planful reports and dashboards used for monthly performance reviews and Board reporting.
  • Automate repetitive Finance processes: reconciliations, journal postings, ARR roll-forward checks, variance reporting.
  • Use APIs, Python scripts, and AI agents to reduce manual work across AP, AR, and FP&A.
  • Partner with Finance and FP&A to improve close speed and forecast accuracy through automation.
  • Ensure SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC payback, churn) are automatically reconciled between source systems and dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot Planful data or workflow issues, liaising with internal teams and Planful support as needed.
  • Develop scripts/AI workflows for automated management reports and Board packs.

What You Bring

Must-Haves

  • 4+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer, Financial Systems Analyst, or Finance Technologist (preferably in SaaS or subscription businesses).
  • Hands-on experience with Planful, including building or maintaining models, reports, or integrations.
  • Strong Python programming skills (pandas, NumPy, automation libraries).
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools (Fivetran, dbt, Airflow) and cloud data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with finance systems: ERP (NetSuite/Intacct), CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot), FP&A platforms (Planful).
  • Exposure to AI-powered tools and agents (LangChain, OpenAI API, or equivalent).
  • Track record of automating manual finance tasks (e.g., reconciliations, report generation, variance analysis).
  • Strong knowledge of SaaS finance and metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, payback, LTV).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a lean, fast-paced environment. Hands-on and solutions oriented.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles to understand Finance workflows.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior experience in private equity-backed SaaS companies.
  • Experience driving post-implementation optimization or user adoption of FP&A systems
  • Knowledge of robotic process automation (RPA) tools (UiPath, Power Automate).
  • Experience deploying machine learning or anomaly detection for fraud/variance detection in financial data.
