exacare ai

Software Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer who is eager to grow, take ownership, and build products that solve meaningful customer problems. In this role, you will contribute to user-facing features throughout the development lifecycle—from understanding customer workflows and exploring solutions to implementing, testing, deploying, and supporting production-ready software.

Success in this role requires curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, and an interest in how technical decisions affect the customer experience. You will work with software architecture, data models, APIs, integrations, and AI capabilities, developing your ability to connect these pieces to real-world workflows. With support from experienced engineers, you will learn to balance thoughtful technical design with practical product delivery, building reliable, maintainable solutions that deliver customer value.

As a Software Engineer, you will help shape exacare’s platform by delivering features, improving existing systems, and taking increasing ownership as you grow. Working closely with engineering, product, design, and customer-facing teams, you’ll contribute ideas, participate in code reviews and technical discussions, and build your skills through hands-on experience, collaboration, and mentorship.

What You’ll Do

  • Build features throughout the development lifecycle: Take ownership of well-defined features and improvements—from understanding requirements through implementation, testing, rollout, and support—with guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Develop systems-to-workflow thinking: Learn how software architecture, data models, APIs, and integrations connect to real healthcare workflows, and use that understanding to inform your work.
  • Build and ship user-facing product: Develop full-stack features using TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and modern cloud tooling on AWS, helping customers navigate complex healthcare workflows.
  • Build quality into your work: Write tests, participate in code reviews, and follow observability and deployment practices that help the team deliver reliable software.
  • Improve and reuse existing solutions: Use shared components and established patterns, contribute improvements to existing systems, and identify opportunities to simplify code and workflows.
  • Collaborate and grow: Work with engineering, product, operations, platform, and ML teammates to solve customer problems, ask thoughtful questions, and build your skills through feedback and hands-on experience.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar technical field
  • 2+ years of engineering experience with a focus on building highly scalable distributed systems
  • Self-starter – you are comfortable rapidly learning new technologies and turning a high-level task into a game plan
  • Demonstrated ability to triage and prioritize production incidents efficiently
  • Ownership mentality and resourcefulness
  • Organized, high attention to detail, with emphasis on quality code, automation, validation and testing
  • Experience with AWS, LLMs, TypeScript, PostgreSQL
  • Strong ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language for cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Experience with building automated workflows

Nice to Have

  • Experience building applied AI features or working with LLM infrastructure.
  • Experience with healthcare workflows, care-setting variability, or regulated environments.
  • Experience with EHR integrations or health data standards.
  • Experience with operational tooling or onboarding/support-heavy product surfaces.
  • Experience building reusable patterns or frameworks that help teams move faster.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and equity in a high-growth startup
  • Flexible PTO, take what you need
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Great startup culture, including ChatGPT premium and company off-sites
  • High-achieving team, including ex-Amazon engineers and alumni of Bain, BCG, and Goldman Sachs

An insight into our Core Values
Only the best belong here
We are unapologetic about talent. This should be the best team you have ever been on. Protecting that standard is how we honor each other’s time, ambition, and craft.

We work even harder to keep our partners than we did to earn them initially
The work does not stop when a customer first onboards to our platform. It deepens over time. We partner with operators, listening and learning about real problems, and translate that into solutions that help them succeed in practice. We earn trust through consistent delivery.

We keep the patient downstream of every decision
At the end of the day, this is about the patient. We get there by deeply respecting and reflecting on our purpose: to develop software that aids teams in delivering better care.

Raise the bar on ownership
We grow because people here go beyond the minimum. We invest extra effort, care, and ownership into what we build.

The world is moving fast. We move faster.
This is a race. We work hard, we move early, and we stay ahead of problems and competitors. If we slow down, someone else will pass us.

Radical candor, zero politics
We say what’s true, early, and we keep communication direct and clean so the team can move.

Bring good vibes and win together
We win as a team. We bring energy, support each other, and make the workplace somewhere people are excited to show up.
