Underwriting Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to support our underwriting team. In this role, you’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure underwriting processes are efficient, accurate, and customer-focused. Responsibilities

  • Review underwriting submissions to ensure alignment with company appetite and criteria.
  • Collaborate directly with brokers to collect, organize, and prepare submission materials for underwriting review.
  • Analyze customer business information and claims history to provide insights that support underwriting decisions.
  • Partner with underwriters to prepare raters and assist with the quoting process.
  • Coordinate with brokers to gather required binding subjectivities.
  • Produce binding documents and ensure risks are closed out accurately and efficiently.
  • Work with Operations, Product, and Engineering teams to continuously improve processes and systems.




Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable liaising with brokers and internal teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret business and claims information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with underwriting systems and SalesForce is a plus.
  • Prior insurance or underwriting support experience preferred
  • Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Positive “can do” attitude with the ability to own work and execute independently
  • Startup or insurtech experience a plus.
