Associate Financial Planner

Job Description

Position Summary

The Associate Financial Planner serves as a key support role to the advisory team by assisting with client service, financial planning preparation, meeting coordination, follow-up tasks, and operational support. This position works closely with Financial Advisors to help deliver an exceptional client experience while ensuring accuracy, organization, and efficiency throughout the planning process.

This role is ideal for an individual looking to grow within the financial planning industry while developing technical knowledge, client service skills, and exposure to comprehensive financial planning.


Key Responsibilities

Advisor & Client Support

  • Support Financial Advisors with day-to-day client service and administrative needs
  • Prepare for client meetings by organizing agendas, reports, and planning materials
  • Assist with gathering and organizing client financial data and documentation
  • Handle client follow-up tasks, requests, and service items in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate client records and update CRM systems as needed
  • Coordinate account paperwork, transfers, beneficiary updates, and custodial forms
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and managing advisor calendars
  • Help ensure a smooth and high-quality client experience throughout all interactions

Financial Planning Support

  • Assist in preparing financial plans and planning analyses
  • Input and review client information within financial planning software
  • Support advisors with retirement, investment, insurance, tax, and cash flow planning preparation
  • Prepare meeting summaries and track action items following client meetings
  • Assist with portfolio and account review preparation

Operational & Team Support

  • Collaborate with advisors and operations teams to complete client-related processes efficiently
  • Help maintain compliance with firm policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards
  • Support internal projects, workflows, and process improvements as assigned
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development opportunities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional, positive, and team-oriented mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn financial software systems
  • Previous customer service, administrative, or financial industry experience preferred


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within the financial planning or wealth management industry strongly preferred
  • Experience using Salesforce, eMoney, or similar financial planning and CRM software strongly preferred
  • CFP® certification or actively working toward CFP® completion strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with financial planning processes, client service workflows, and investment operations preferred

The pay range for this role is:

60,000 - 75,000 USD per year (Ontario, California)
