Summary of the Position

The Associate Vice President (AVP) Capacity will be responsible for assisting with relationships and agreements with insurance companies that provide underwriting capacity to our Managing General Agent (MGA). This role will be primarily focused on the effective execution of agreements, while also aiding to foster strong communication channels with our partners.

Position Functions

  1. Assist Senior Vice President (SVP) Capacity on the following items:
    1. Build, maintain, and enhance long-term strategic partnerships with insurers, ensuring alignment on goals, strategies, and execution.
    2. Agreement and endorsement drafting, endorsing, and reviews across all capacity related agreements for the MGA.
    3. Contract coordination and reporting across departments within FIG
    4. Performance monitoring and reporting to our capacity providers:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This position requires leadership experience with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex business relationships.  An understanding of insurance law, underwriting principles, and MGA operations is required. The candidate should be detail orientated while also being able to think “big picture.”

The position will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting partnerships as well as being able to present in front of groups of stakeholders; strategic thinking with a proven ability to execute on complex initiatives, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment in a professional manner with all level of company staff including management and other departments as well as outside vendors.  The role will require review of many binding authorities so a law background is necessary.


Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, are a must.  Any experience using Domo (an alternative to Power BI) or Jira could be helpful along with any background with XCS / the bureau and PPL.   

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years of related insurance experience with a minimum of 2 of those in maritime law.
  • A Law degree is required; US Law degree is preferred.
  • An Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) certificate is a plus but not required.


Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, and answer and communicate on a telephone.


Working Conditions

Business-casual fast paced multi-tasking office environment.

Hours of Operations

This position supports our marketing efforts internationally. This position's work hours are Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm, in a hybrid work environment. Our hybrid environment is 3 days within our business-casual office environment. Of these 3 days in the office, Wednesday and Thursday are required, and employees may work from home the other 2 days. Our employees choose their schedule. This position requires occasional flexibility for working additional hours to accomplish project objectives.

The pay range for this role is:

100,000 - 125,000 GBP per year (London)
