About Farm & Forge Club
The Farm & Forge Club is a brand new sports complex located in College Grove, TN (south of Nashville). A 65,000 square foot building with six indoor tennis courts opened in November 2025 and two equally sized buildings are under construction and will open in mid-2026: one for Human Performance (including strength & conditioning, recovery and physical therapy.), and another building with an additional six indoor tennis courts and space for schooling. Farm & Forge will also include a full-size football field, 18 outdoor hard tennis courts and six outdoor clay tennis courts.
Key aspects of Farm & Forge’s operation include:
- Youth academy: high-performance academy model for youth to focus on a sport (i.e. tennis, track, etc.) while attending school (on-site with teachers) and receive strength & conditioning training.
- Youth activities: after school programs, summer camps, etc.
- Adult memberships: including access to state-of-the-art facilities, coaching, and training
- On-site events including tournaments, court and field rentals, and community activities.

About the role
The General Manager / Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) is the senior operational leader of Farm & Forge Club, accountable for translating vision into execution across people, programs, facilities, and financial performance. This role owns day-to-day operations and long-range operational strategy, ensuring the club runs with excellence, discipline, and scalability.
This is a hands-on, outcomes-driven leadership role for a highly analytical operator with a consulting mindset, strong financial acumen, and the ability to lead complex, cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate brings deep business and operations expertise combined with a meaningful background in sports, athletics, or performance environments. The GM/COO partners closely with the Office of the President as a strategic thought partner, operator, and trusted executor.
What you'll do
Operational Ownership and Strategic Leadership
- Own all operational decision-making and outcomes across the club, including tennis, Human Performance, education, facilities, and events.
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner and sounding board to the President.
- Help translate long-term vision into near-term operational priorities and execution plans.
- Proactively surface risks, tradeoffs, and opportunities, presenting clear options with pros and cons.
- Execute decisively once direction is set, acting as an enthusiastic supporter of key decisions.
- Lead, coach, and develop Executive Directors across Tennis, Human Performance, Facilities, and Education; ensure seamless coordination across departments to deliver a unified club experience.
- Build a high-performance, accountable culture with clear expectations, standards of performance, and feedback mechanisms.
- Oversee workforce planning, staffing models, scheduling, and performance management.
- Partner with the Office of the President on senior-level people decisions including compensation, development, performance, and disciplinary actions.
Facility Operations and Program Execution
- Build systems and feedback loops that deliver an exceptional parent, athlete, and member experience at scale.
- Be the ‘face’ of Farm and Forge, representing the club in the community and at events.
- Oversee the nuts and bolts of facility management, including:
- Scheduling and space optimization across courts, classrooms, fitness spaces, and fields
- Tournament and event operations
- Building operations, maintenance, safety protocols, and vendor management
- Establish and continuously improve operational playbooks, SOPs, and escalation protocols to ensure consistency, safety, and professionalism.
- Ensure all programs meet or exceed local, state, and federal compliance requirements.
Financial Ownership and Business Performance
- Own operational financial performance in partnership with the Office of the President, including:
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Department-level P&L visibility
- Expense discipline and resource allocation
- Define, track, and operationalize KPIs across departments.
- Establish clear, decision-oriented financial and operational reporting for leadership and governance.
- Ensure contracts, vendor agreements, and major expenses align with financial and strategic priorities.
- Lead and/or significantly influence pricing strategy across programs, memberships, camps, tournaments, and education offerings.
- Apply structured problem-solving and data analysis to improve enrollment, utilization, and retention.
- Collaborate on go-to-market strategies, partnerships, and community engagement initiatives; bring prior experience shaping or advising pricing and marketing strategies for sports organizations, schools, clubs, or analogous service-based businesses.
- Support capital planning and investment decisions, including facility improvements, technology investments, and program expansion.
Systems, Process Improvement, and Technology
- Apply a consulting-style approach to diagnosing operational inefficiencies, automate workflows and deploy scalable solutions.
- Ensure operational systems and tools (scheduling, member management, finance, HR, communications) are optimized and consistently adopted.
- Bring strong fluency in AI and emerging technologies, with the ability to:
- Identify opportunities to automate workflows
- Improve forecasting, scheduling, and decision-making
- Enhance the member and staff experience
Qualifications
The GM/COO is a business-first operator with an appreciation for sports and performance culture. Required
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, consulting, or complex service-based organizations.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-department operations, large teams, and significant budgets.
- Strong financial acumen, including P&L management, KPI design, budgeting, and capital planning.
- Innovative, systems-oriented thinker who proactively identifies opportunities to modernize and scale through technology, including hands-on experience implementing AI-enabled tools.
- Flexible schedule, including the ability to be in attendance for key events that may occur during evenings or weekends.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functionally across operations, finance, marketing, technology, and people.
- Structured problem-solver at both strategic and tactical levels.
- High level of comfort with data, systems, and technology.
- Experience operating in fast-growing, dynamic environments.
- Strong executive presence, judgment, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Background in sports, athletics, performance training, or elite team environments.
- Experience with pricing and marketing strategy for clubs, schools, or membership-based organizations.
- Former athlete, coach, or operator in competitive sports environments.
- Experience overseeing tournaments, camps, or large-scale events.
- Familiarity with club management platforms (e.g., Club Automation or similar).
