About the Role
The Facilities Director is responsible for the day-to-day functionality, upkeep, and success of Farm and Forge’s properties. Reporting to the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer, this is a hands-on, leadership role, and requires a true player-coach. You’ll oversee facilities operations, make critical decisions on in-house vs. contractor-led repairs, manage facility staffing levels, vendor and warranty relationships, and ensure that every building and outdoor space is safe, welcoming, and running smoothly.
At launch in November 2025, you’ll oversee a 65,000 sq. ft. facility and a small team focused on providing the best member experience possible. This scope will expand as two additional 65,000 sq. ft. buildings, indoor + outdoor tennis courts (36 in total), and turf fields are completed in mid-2026 and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily facilities operations, ensuring the property is clean, functional, safe, and welcoming.
- Supervise and develop facilities staff, including custodial, maintenance, and security (initially 1–2 staff, growing to 3–5+).
- Manage scheduling, training, and performance for facilities staff.
- Decide when to use internal staff vs. external contractors for maintenance, repairs, and projects, and manage those relationships.
- Coordinate warranty services for building systems and equipment, knowing who to call and when.
- Conduct basic maintenance and repairs as needed; step in directly when issues arise.
- Own facilities budgets for repairs, maintenance, and service contracts, in partnership with the GM/COO.
- Ensure care and maintenance of grounds, including lawn care and outdoor athletic facilities.
- Support community events and activities by ensuring facilities are prepared and responsive to needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and support a culture of cleanliness, reliability, and care.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed to support operations.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in commercial facilities management, ideally with large-scale or multi-site facilities. Preference for experience managing sports/recreation facilities.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing small teams and contractors.
- Hands-on ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs; not afraid to roll up your sleeves.
- Experience managing budgets and vendor contracts.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
- Community-minded with a welcoming, problem-solving approach.
- Strongly preferred - Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Able to work evenings/weekends as needed and comfortable being the go-to person for facilities issues.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUIs, reckless driving, license suspensions, or 4+ moving violations).
