About the role

The Farm & Forge Club is looking for a hands-on technology pro to support our day-to-day IT operations and keep everything with a screen or power button running smoothly.

You’ll be the on-site go-to person for computers, displays, jumbotrons, streaming, and all user-facing tech to support staff and members in a Mac-based environment. Like an Apple Genius Bar technician, you’ll combine technical know-how with friendly, clear communication to solve problems and keep our facility connected.

This opportunity is a great fit for an IT pro who enjoys helping people, troubleshooting independently, working efficiently, and taking ownership of on-site technology in an active, fast-paced environment. This role requires someone to be fully on-site with frequent walking between courts, classrooms, and event spaces to support our mixed-use spaces.

What you'll do

  • Member & Staff Support (Genius-style): Provide concierge help for macOS/iOS/iPadOS devices—setup, migration, iCloud/Apple ID basics, email, printing, app installs, OS updates, and light data hygiene.
  • Classroom & Office Devices: Image/configure Macs and iPads; deploy apps; maintain carts/charging; keep lab and office devices ready for daily use.
  • Event & Streaming Tech: Prep, operate, and tear down live-stream kits, capture cards, switchers, cameras, mics; support match broadcasts and guest talks.
  • Zenniz & Scoreboards: Perform routine checks, firmware updates, sensor/camera alignment, and basic troubleshooting; escalate to vendor/MSP as needed.
  • Jumbotron/Displays & Rooms: Manage large displays, Apple TV, HDMI/NDI routes, confidence monitors, and video-conferencing setups (Zoom/Meet).
  • POS & Front-of-House Electronics: Keep terminals, receipt printers, barcode/QR scanners, and member-facing kiosks online and updated.
  • Hands-On for MSP/Vendors: Coordinating with an MSP to follow escalation paths and vendor instructions, such as swapping hardware, tracing cables, labelling ports, racking/stacking peripherals, and validating fixes per runbooks.
  • Inventory & Maintenance: Track spares, cables, dongles, cases, and consumables; create simple checklists and laminated “how-to” cards where helpful.
  • Documentation & Training: Write plain-English guides, 1-pager SOPs, and quick videos; run short training sessions for staff and members.
  • Quality & Safety: Keep work areas tidy, manage power/UPS basics, and follow safe ladder/lift practices for mounts and projectors.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years in customer-facing tech support (Apple Genius Bar, IT Support, Help Desk, AV/Events, or similar).
  • Strong proficiency with macOS and iOS/iPadOS skills: setup, migration, backups, profiles, common apps, and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with A/V systems, streaming tools (OBS, vMix, switchers), and basic camera setups + comfortable running small live streams
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (routers, switches, Wi-Fi, VPN).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills - you can translate tech into everyday language and set clear expectations with tact.
  • A self-starter mindset and comfort troubleshooting independently.
  • Organized under pressure; you can triage multiple requests and document as you go.
  • Occasional evening or weekend support for tournaments or special programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and safely manage cables and mounted equipment.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience supporting POS systems, kiosks, or iPad fleets.
  • Basic photo/video capture and quick edits for social/live playback.
  • Familiarity with streaming tools (OBS, vMix, hardware switchers), NDI/RTMP, and capture devices.
  • Exposure to device management (MDM such as Jamf/ABM/Apple Configurator).
  • Light scripting/automation (Shortcuts, shell) or knack for building simple runbooks.
