About the role
The Senior Human Resources Generalist will play a pivotal position in developing and implementing effective Human Resource policies, programs and processes in support of The Farm and Forge Club operations and team member needs. This position will lead the charge on all employee initiatives including benefits selection and administration, payroll, performance reviews, employee relations, hiring, onboarding, offboarding and retention strategies.
This role is the ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a startup environment and has the experience, creativity, and confidence to work independently to solve problems and recommend long-term solutions.
Today, the team has ~30 full-time employees, with expectations to double in size by early 2026. This role will play a key part in helping us expand our capabilities and effectively support our team.
What you'll do
Employee Life Cycle
- Own full-life cycle recruiting/selection, including posting of jobs, screening candidates, conducting and coordinating phone/video/in-person interviews, and extending offers
- Create and revise job descriptions to ensure compliance and competitiveness in the marketplace
- Manage relationships with all third-party recruitment agencies
- Lead new hire orientation
- Complete administrative tasks to onboard new hires into all applicable systems
- Complete I-9 requirements
- Work with managers to address disciplinary concerns, ensuring a fair and equitable process is followed for progressing issues
- Support employee exits by conducting exit interviews, providing exit guidance and transitional support
Culture
- Spearhead cultural initiatives to drive employee engagement and retention
- Establish communication cadences to support alignment and understanding of the company’s Mission, Vision and Core Values
- Counsel and assist employees through dispute resolution and employee relations matters
- Support inclusivity and DE&I related efforts, ensuring a safe and welcoming place for all
- Serve as a welcoming and supportive resource for all team members
Compensation and Benefits
- Work with hiring managers and executive to determine compensation bands and pay strategy to ensure market alignment
- Work closely with brokerage partners to monitor plan design and usage
- Educate team members on benefits offerings and enrollment
- Serve as the employer fiduciary representative for the company’s 401k plan
- Recommend new or revised benefits and perks to ensure competitive alignment in the marketplace
- Support payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in all payroll data
Policy and Compliance:
- Provides guidance to leaders and teams to ensure compliance to all Federal, State and local laws and regulations and corrective actions (ADA, FMLA, FLSA, harassment, discrimination, diversity, corrective action and progressive discipline)
- Effectively balance risk and cost analysis when making decisions or providing recommendations
- Lead team member complaint investigation/response processes
- Establish workplace safety guidelines and training
- Ensure all team members complete annual abuse prevention trainings, background screenings, and that coaches maintain USTA Safe Play Certified
- Maintain updates and revisions of the employee handbook and policy guides.
Systems and Reporting:
- Serve as the core administrator and point of contact for the company’s HRIS, Rippling
- Maintain accurate and secure records of all employee data
- Create and monitor reports on data such as employee turnover, time to hire, time to fill, offer acceptance rate, performance metrics, employee engagement, and diversity.
Qualifications
- Experience and excitement working in a scrappy, fast-paced, start-up environment
- Qualified candidates should have at least 3 years of professional generalist experience and a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, OR equivalent professional experience
- Strong understanding of employment laws and compliance
- Experience with onboarding tools, background screening, and E-Verify systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical thinking and judgment, with the ability to provide data-driven recommendations
- Demonstrated professional demeanor with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Proficiency in Google for Work
- SHRM-SCP preferred

The pay range for this role is:
80,000 - 100,000 USD per year (College Grove, TN)
