About the role

We’re hiring our first Financial Controller to lead and establish the financial systems, controls, and reporting processes that will power our next phase of growth. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, hands-on finance professional who’s excited to grow with the business and shape its long-term success. This position must be available to work on-site at our facilities in College Grove, TN.

What you'll do

Build Infrastructure:

• Design and implement accounting systems, internal controls, and scalable financial processes from the ground up.
• Establish reporting cadences, close procedures, and forecasting models to support leadership decision-making.
• Select and manage systems such as accounting software and expense management tools to increase automation and transparency.

Own Day-to-Day Financial Operations:

• Oversee all financial record keeping, reconciliations, A/P and A/R functions, and month-end/year-end close.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial data.
• Partner with payroll/HR systems (currently ADP) to ensure clean and compliant processes.
• Provide proactive reporting to senior leaders.

Lead Financial Strategy & Compliance:

• Create and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models to help the organization plan and grow responsibly.
• Monitor compliance with tax, regulatory, and internal financial policies.
• Maintain financial security and integrity across all systems and practices.
• Define policies and deploy training to the team on expense approval workflows, multi-level security authorizations, and cyber risks related to financial data.
• Support external relationships (e.g. CPAs, auditors, banks) as needed.

Qualifications

About you:

• You’ve successfully built or led accounting/finance operations in a growing business, preferably as part of a health club or sports facility.
• You’re excited about joining a mission-driven team early and helping shape its long-term financial health.
• You thrive in environments where structure is still being built. You’re equally strategic and willing to do the hands-on work.
• You bring sharp attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a high standard of integrity.
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with business leaders across a variety of disciplines.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA or equivalent experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience in accounting or financial leadership roles, ideally with early-stage or growing organizations.
• Experience implementing systems, creating policies, and owning full financial record-keeping.
• Experience handling sales tax processing.
• Familiarity with leveraging third-party athletic facility financial management tools to prepare accurate and timely reporting is a plus, but not required (ex. Club Automation).
