About the role
The Category Management Consultant serves as a trusted advisor, subject matter expert and transformational resource to our customers, driving their engagement and maximizing their value realization from our platform. This role is a hands-on, strategic partner for brands and retailers, helping them drive winning retail outcomes and growth via our platform of retail intelligence solutions. The right candidate is an energetic, savvy and analytical CPG professional with a demonstrated track-record of success in industry. Beyond working directly with customers, the Category Management Consultant also collaborates with Field Agent’s internal teams—including product, data, sales, and marketing—to advocate for customer needs, shape platform enhancements, and ensure category insights are at the heart of our solutions.
What you'll do
● Category Management Consulting
○ Guide customers in using Shelfgram to extract insights for their brands and categories.
○ Lead category management projects for the customer.
○ Offer expert recommendations on category trends, competitive positioning, and shelf optimization.
○ Conduct training sessions and presentations on best practices for using Shelfgram.
○ Help customers establish playbooks for retail intelligence platform usage specific to their business.
● Internal Collaboration & Advocacy
○ Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring Field Agent’s product and data teams understand key category needs.
○ Work with the sales team to demonstrate the value of Shelfgram in customer conversations.
○ Support marketing in developing thought leadership content, case studies, and training materials.
● Retail & Category Insights Thought Leadership
○ Stay up to date on industry trends and innovations in category management.
○ Analyze retail data from Shelfgram and translate it into actionable insights for customers.
○ Identify opportunities for new Shelfgram features and enhancements based on customer feedback.
Qualifications
● Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) / Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) professional experienced in category management, retail insights, or shopper analytics.
● Results and outcomes focused. Demonstrated track-record of success in category management.
● Operate with a fast motor, and drive pace and urgency.
● Passionate about helping brands and retailers succeed with data-driven decision-making.
● Highly curious and analytical, with strength bringing data-driven stories to life and narrative.
● Tech-savvy and comfortable working with digital tools for category analysis.
● A strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex insights for various stakeholders.
● A proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in pertinent field preferred.
● 5+ years of experience in category management, retail analytics, or related fields.
● Experience with space planning and business intelligence software preferred.
● Knowledge of planogramming, space planning, or shelf insights is a plus.
● Familiarity with Shelfgram or similar retail intelligence platforms is a bonus.
● Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret retail data and market trends.
● Excellent communication and presentation skills.
